A Lost Puppy and A Cute Girl

Summary: Scoutt get's lost inadvertly introducing a young Caitlyn, to a young Vi

Scoutt wasn’t sure where she was. She’d been left in the garden alone, and she saw the gate open. She went to investigate, and then she just kept walking. She was curious their was so much she hadn’t seen out here. She went over some bridge thing and to some place filled with smoke?? Not quite smoke though. It smelled strange here, she wasn’t sure why. She walked along her tags jingling with every step, and her tail wagging. This was kinda exciting. Even though the people where giving her strange looks. Then a girl with blue hair, wearing purple and blue came up to her.

This girl was certainly younger then her handler Caitlyn. Not to mention her clothes were in just an awful state. Scout found hearself tilting her head at the girl. Who was this girl? Who did her hair??

“Can I ask about those ears? Did you make them? How do they move?” the blue haired child asked looking at he“Oh..sorry.” The girl said shrinking back.

“Powder!” Called another older girl, with pink hair. She came up behind the blue-haired girl, looking Scoutt up r ears with intense curiosity.

“No..those are my ears..” Scoutt said hands coming up to cover her ears. Wondering if they made her unusual.

and down like she was preparing for a fight. Immediately coming to stand in front the little girl.

“Hi, I’m Scoutt!” Scoutt attempted hoping not to encore this girl’s anger, she even tried a friendly wave. The pink-haired girl just gave her a scary look.

“What do you want?” She asked staying stood in front of Powder.

“Nothing, I just got a little lost. I’m not trying to cause trouble promise.” Scoutt said putting her hands up in surrender. Backing away from the two girls, a small whine escaping her throat.

“Lost?” The older girl asked, she didn’t look like she believed it.

“Yeah, see my collar? I got separated from my handler.” Scoutt said tilting her chin up. The older girl took a step forward to read the tags. Something crossed her features some kind of look Scoutt couldn’t figure out.

“Powder go home. I’m gonna return Scoutt.” The older girl said, to which Powder pouted.

“I found her I wanna help.” Powder said, but the older girl turned some kind of look on her.

“No. Go home. I’ll be back shortly.” The older girl said, and Powder walked away finally. Glancing at Scoutt one more time before walking away.

“Come on.” The older girl said pulling her hood up. Leading Scoutt back towards the bridge. Scout followed her tag wagging. She must have made a new friend right? This girl was helping her plus she was Caitlyn’s age.

“Do you have a name?” Scoutt asked her tail still wagging. The older girl just scoffed.

“You don’t need to know. You just need to get out of my city.” The older girl said seemingly trying to be unnocitable while they crossed into Piltover.

“Your city??” Scoutt said tilting her head. Wasn’t this all one bif place?? How did someone so young own the place?? However, the pink haired girl offered no answer. In fact Scoutt tried to ask a few more questions but the girl refused to say anything. It didn’t take much longer to reach the Kiramman Manor, Scoutt was happy to see home again. Especially when she heard a young posh voice calling her name.

“Scoutt! Come here!” , it was Caitlyn, she must have been so worried. The girl that had been helping her spoke first.

“I found your dog.” she called through the front gate. To which Caitlyn came running up to the gate. She was dressed to play, a nice blouse with a vest and shorts, that made Scoutt happy. Scoutt loved to play. It was a stark contrast to the girl that had helped scout get home. The odd top and cut off jacket, not to mention how dirty her clothes were compared to Caitlyn’s.

“Thank you.” Caitlyn said as she opened the gate to get to Scoutt. The dog girl hugging Caitlyn immediately her tail wagging.

“I made a friend!” Scoutt cheered, pulling back to look up at Caitlyn. Who wasn’t all that much taller then her. The older girl standing their a moment to long maybe before turning to leave.

“I see that”, Caitlyn said turning to address the other girl, “Wait, I don’t eve know you name.” The other girl turned back to look at Caitlyn, something hard in her expression.

“Don’t worry about it cupcake.” She said turning to go. However Caitlyn stepped forward, motioning for Scoutt to stay.

“My name is Caitlyn.” She said standing up straight, Cait did that when trying to make a point, “You deserve a reward for bring Scoutt home.”Their was a sigh from the other girl.

“Vi, whats this reward?” Vi asked finally giving Caitlyn her attention. Scoutt could sense something between the two. She didn’t exactly know what.

“Give me a moment.” Caitlyn said going to run back inside. Scoutt stayed exactly where she was, watching Vi with a tail wag. Vi looked at the creature strangely.

“Aren’t you gonna go inside to your big fancy house?” Vi asked looking the creature up and dow, Scoutt shook her head.

“Cait gave me the signal to stay.” Scoutt said with a smile.

“Do you do everything Caitlyn says?” Vi asked raising an eyebrow.

“No, but when I do I get treats.” Scoutt said excitedly, as Caitlyn came back out. Handing off a cookie to Scoutt, and a small bag of coin to Vi. Who took it and looked inside for a minute, shocked at the amount.

“Thank you Vi. Scoutt is really important to me.” Caitlyn said with a sweet smile. It matched so well with the girl standing behind her nomming on a cookie. It was so foreign to anything in the undercity.

“No problem Cupcake.” Vi said turning to leave now with a new bag of coin.

“Wait, will I see you again?” Caitlyn asked taking a step forward, Vi stopped to look over her shoulder.

“I don’t think so Cupcake.” Vi said finally leaving. Scoutt pouted at that. Didn’t her new friend want to stay.

A few days later Caitlyn asked Scoutt to show her where exactly she’d gotten off too. Caitlyn was hoping to see Vi again, Scoutt was just excited for the walk. Soon they were crossing the bridge, after many Scoutt distractions. Caitlyn anxious at being so close to Zaun, also just surprised Scoutt had gone that far. However at the other end of the bridge was Vi, almost like she’d been waiting for them. Though that wasn’t possible.

“What are you doing here Cupcake?” Vi asked looking the pair up and down.

“Scoutt wanted to go for a walk.” Caitlyn saud though that wasn’t true. Scoutt didn’t actually care what they did, as long as she got to have fun. Scout infact tried to greet Vi the way she greeted all her friends(Caitlyn), by hugging Vi.

“Scouttt no.” Caitlyn said firmly the minute she saw Scoutt try to hug Vi. She stopped pouting at Caitlyn.

“You’ve got a tight leash on….that.” Vi said unsure how to take the how dog girl thing. Must have been a rich girl thing.

“She’s not a that, her name is Scoutt and she’s a trusted companion.” Caitlyn said firmly, despite the fact that Scoutt was distracted. She was chasing near by birds.

“Right. What are you doing here?” Vi asked crossing her arms.

“I could ask you the same. It looks like you were waiting for us.” Caitlyn pointed out, going to pull herself up onto a ledge of the concrete structure Vi was leaned against. She sat with her legs crossed her hands on either side of her.

“Well I wasn’t.” Vi said watching the dog girl attempts to catch birds.

“Hmm well we were only going for a walk.” Caitlyn insisted.

“This isn’t walking.” Vi pointed out gesturing to Scoutt chasing birds.

“Well a break certainly doesn’t hurt.” Caitlyn said watching the water from her perch.

“A break.” Vi scoffed glancing up at Caitlyn for a minute.

“What are you doing out here Vi?” Caitlyn asked her gaze still on the water, the distant sounds of Scoutt in the background.

“A break.” Vi said being rather closed off. They sat their in silence for a while till Caitlyn got down. It was a comfortable silenc, until Cait got down.

“We have to go, but i’ll see you again.” Caitlyn said smiling at Vi.

“Doubt it, cupcake.” Vi said, acting like she didn’t want to see Cait again. Even though Vi stayed watching Cait call Scoutt back and leave. Waiting for Caitlyn and Scoutt to get across the bridge before turning to go home.

Vi said she doubted it, and maybe she meant it when she said it. However if she meant it why was she out here again? Hoping that every stranger on the bridge was Caitlyn. Why was she here again? Hoping to catch a glimpse of the piltie and her lap dog? Then Vi saw them coming down the bridge. Actually she saw Scoutt first. Who came running up to her, hugging her before anyone could stop the pup. Vi sighed patting Scoutt’s head.

“Hi!” Scout cheered her tail wagging.

“Hi, can you get off?” Vi asked rolling her eyes, as Caitlyn giggled. Coming up behind Scoutt.

“Scoutt heel.” She said in a gentle voice, patting Scoutt when she came back. Then releasing her to go chase birds, and other things.

“So you were waiting for us?” Caitlyn asked with a little smirk.

“No, I was visiting the memorial.” Vi said stubbornly, turning her attention to the framed pictures and lit candles. Vi had been waiting for them but she couldn’t say that. Especially not to a pilte. Caitlyn looked where Vi was with confusion and a small bit of sympathy.

“What happened?” She asked taking a hesitant step towards the area. Vi scoffed at the question.

“Don’t act like you don’t know.” Vi said going to kneel down infront of the pictures. Caitlyn didn’t know, she honestly had no idea what happened here. She sensed maybe asking about it wouldn’t be a great decision.

“I’m sorry” Caitlyn said sitting delicately on the ground near Vi. Who plopped in to the ground beside her.

“Yeah whatever Cupcake.” Vi said and yet she didn’t try to chase Caitlyn out. They sat their a while longer. Silent for a while before they began to talk comparitively about their lives. Eventually though Caitlyn had to leave. To go back to that big fancy house. Taking Scoutt along with her.

“See you soon.” Caitlyn said before departing down the bridge, Scoutt at her heel.

“You better cupcake.” Vi mumbled to herself before going home as well. This was soon to become a routine for them. Meeting at the bridge, eventually more towards the center. Vi would see Caitlyn and Scoutt every few days. Scoutt was having the time of her life, either chasing birds or playing with Vi, who was an expert at rough housing. The girls were growing closer everyday. Best friends you might say.

It had been nearly a year. The cold was starting to settle in, as Caitlyn and Scoutt came down the bridge. Vi was waiting like always. She was use to Scoutt’s hugs now. Even if she still wondered how this dog maintained so much energy. Vi didn’t miss the look on Caitlyn’s face.

“What’s wrong cupcake?” Vi asked petting Scoutt eventually getting the wolf girl off of her. Scoutt pouted at that before she immediatley went chasing a bird.

“My family leaves for a hunting trip tomorrow. We’ll be gone for two weeks.” Caitlyn said with a sigh. Despite the fact she was a prodigy in sharp shooting, who had apparently bested the police cheif.

“What you can’t bring the mutt?” Vi asked not sure why Caitlyn would be upset about a vacation. Even if it was out in the woods.

“No, Scoutt is trained specifically fo hunting. She’s not a mutt either, she’s a pure bred.” Caitlyn said holding herself up rigidly, as she often did to make a point.

“Okay? So what’s the problem then? Aren’t you like a gun prodigy or something?” Vi asked leaning against the bridge.

“The problem Vi, is that I won’t be here. We won’t get to see eachother.” Caitlyn said crossing her arms. Vi had to admit that made her a little sad too, but it wasn’t that big a deal. They’d see each other when Caitlyn got back.

“I’ll be here when you get back cupcake, besides Scoutt is probably excited.” Vi pointed out, now understanding why Scoutt was always chasing birds.

“Yes, I suppose she is. She’s only been on one other trip but she seems to rember it quite well.” Caitlyn told Vi, before she began to tell hunting stories. That was how they spent that evening. Talking about hunting, those it was mostly Caitlyn talking, Vi couldn’t help but just listen. She got a little spaced out taking in the beauty of Caitlyn when she heard the word she was dreading, tonight they were both dreading it.

“Scoutt heel!” , that pulled Vi right out of her day dreaming. Meanwhile Scoutt came rushing past her to get to Caitlyn.

“We have to get going but I’ll see y-” Vi wasn’t sure how it happened, suddenly she was Kissing Caitlyn cutting off her speech. Caitlyn froze before kissing her back. Vi pulled away first, kinda wondering if she’d get hit.

“I’ll miss you Cupcake” Vi said searching Caitlyn’s eyes for something. Caitlyn’s gaze softened with adoration.

“I’ll miss you Violet, see you soon.” Caitlyn promised giving Vi a hug then running off with Scoutt. Vi felt her heart sink as she watched Caitlyn and Scoutt leave.

Scoutt was probably the only one that enjoyed the next two weeks. They passed slowly for Caitlyn and Vi who missed eachother greatly. Caitlyn wanted to run to the bridge as soon as they returned home. However she couldn’t, it was agony waiting to go on her usual walk with scoutt. Scoutt who insisted on bringing one of the bones she got on the trip. Caitlyn had no idea why but they set off.

Scoutt nearly tackled Vi when they finally saw her again.Vi chuckled hugging Scoutt back patting her head.

“Alright I missed you guys too.” Vi said finally getting Scoutt off her, who was still so happy evident by the wagging tail.

“I got you a gift!” Scoutt said handing the bone too Vi, who tried not to laugh. Scoutt was such a strange creature.

“That’s why she wanted to bring it.” Caitlyn said with a smile, watching Vi take the bone.

“Hey Cupcake.” Vi said setting the bone aside, mostly so she could hug Caitlyn. Who held tightly to Vi taking in everything about her.

“Hello Violet.” Caitlyn said finally pulling back after a few minutes.

“So how was the trip? Boring without me?” Vi asked with a smirk being a bit cocky.

“Maybe a bit, but Scoutt had a good time.” Caitlyn said gesturing to the very happy Scoutt. Who would eventually steal Vi’s attention to rough house. It made caitlyn happy to see the two get along so well. Very well infact, sometimes Caitlyn wondered if Scoutt liked her more.

Over the next few months they countined their usual routine. Though they became physically closer, holding hands, sitting together, kisses and hugs good bye. Even Scoutt managed to figure out they were in love. Scoutt was happy, mostly because it made Caitlyn so happy.

Then the explosion happened. Which almost hurt Caitlyn stupid talis. Worse though was that they couldn’t go for their walk that evening, nor the evening of the trial. When they finally got to go Vi wasn’t their.

“Where is she?” Scoutt asked first with a whine. Vi should have been their. Who was Scoutt gonna rough house with?

“Maybe she’s just late, let’s wait for her.” , but scoutt heard it in Caitly’ns voice. She didn’t believe that. They did wait that night, then they went home. They waited for the next few nights. Until Caitly found the note with her name.

‘I’m sorry cupcake, but I have something to take care of. If I’m not bakc tomorrow well don’t wait. I love you Caitlyn,

-Violet”

“Let’s go Scoutt” Caitlyn said, turning to leave her heart sinking. Scoutt didn’t hesitate to go with her.

“What’s wrong? What’s it say?”, Scoutt asked trying to figure out why Caitlyn was so sad. Caitlyn didn’t provide an answer but sh did cry that night. Scoutt hugging her tightly trying to make her feel better. They went back one more time then never again. Scoutt was sad. Even as days turned to months turned to years, Scoutt felt Vi’s absence. She was sure Caitlyn did too. Even when they joined the enforcers, and especially when they got stuck home after progress day.

Scoutt had given up on seeing Vi again. It had been forever in dog years and so much had changed. She wondered if Caitlyn and Vi would still get along. Caitlyn had been gone for a few days now, when she came in though the window. Caitlyn wasn’t the exciting bit though, it was who was with her. Vi, she was back! Her and Caitlyn had become friends again. Scoutt immediatley tackled Vi in a hug tail wagging.

“You came back! I missed you!” Scoutt said now having Vi on the ground whp was laughing a little bit. She reached out ruffling Scoutt’s hair.

“Yeah I missed you two girl” Vi said with a soft chuckle, happy to see both Caitlyn and her mutt where alive.
