my baby dreads from a year ago!! now they look so much better and so much worse at the same time (:
Day40. I'm noticing that I'm having a lot of loose hairs (fly always) and a couple inches of loose undreaded hairs from my scalp to the actual dread. Patience and palmrolling is KEY.
One month today since i first got my little spider legs (dreadlets) and i couldnt be happier with them
Put loom bands in my dreads :3
I'm tired of seeing people go on and saying that "white people" specifically shouldn't have dreads and that they are disgusting on only while people. I do understand that it is cultural appropriation and people take offense to people of a different culture taking something that is important to them, and using it as a fashion statement. I get it, I'm mostly native american, and can't stand when people use the fact that they are .1% native as an excuse to do half the things they do regarding the actual culture but I accept it because I live in a country that labels itself as the "melting pot" of the world and if people want to represent my heritage, all power to them. But not everyone is mindless about the history and reasoning behind something that plays a part in a different culture. If people are willing to admit that they dreaded their hair for a fashion statement or they do explain the reasoning and tell you that they share beliefs with your culture, I think they should and have the right to wear their hair however they want for whatever reason. Most people here in america are a mixture of different races/cultures/religions anyways. The color of someone's skin can be very deceiving. Nobody believes that I'm mostly native american mixed with Cuban and Minorcan, just because I have porcelain skin. Embrace being culturally rounded and don't stress over someone trying different things, they might just respect it more than you hate it. I dreaded my hair yesterday and got a couple dirty looks today already from more than just colored folks, caucasians as well. I understand your hate, but please if I'm nice to you and smile at you, please try not to look at me like I'm Satan. 💘💘💘💘
More lil dreads.
