Young!Trans!Genji with prompt #7 perhaps?
Prompt #7 “Hey, it's the middle of the night-Why are you pouring red bull into your drink?” “Science.”
A/N: Sorry for the slow updates, I was procrastinating my requests, and then when I actually finished them that tropical storm hit and knocked out the power and wifi. I’m using a hotspot right now so :/
!WARNING! Transphobia and Homo/Transphobic slurs are mentioned in this work. As well as references to dysphoria.
The night was always quiet in Shimada Castle.
Correction, it wasn’t entirely quiet, the crickets chirping, and the noise of the buzzing streets all but drowned out by the castle walls.
Yet, loud enough to only hear the loudest chatter and arcade games playing in the distance.
Normally, on a night like this, Genji would have dragged you to some party or club, and then you’d drag him home, narrowly escaping his brother or any clan elders you met on the way.
His bed was large, and his windows were always kept wide open, despite you and Hanzo telling him to close them.
You kept each other warm in the bed since the windows always brought in a light breeze from the mountains.
So it was odd when you pulled yourself up from the bed and didn’t feel the normal warmth you did.
You turned to Genji’s spot on the bed.
One thirty in the morning.
You groaned and cracked your back, pulling the sheets off of yourself and opening the door to your room.
The lights in the hallway were off, and the hallways of the castle were extensive and easy to get lost in, but at the same time, you knew the hallways all too well.
And you knew Genji well and were able to figure out where he’d most likely be.
You found him in the kitchen, the last place you would check.
His head was shoved in the fridge, and various boxes and cups littered the cupboards.
It wasn’t often that Genji cooked himself something, but at the same time, Genji was a horrible cook either way.
You raised an eyebrow, as he pulled out a can and snapped it open.
Hearing the fizz, Genji picked up a cup.
“Hey, it's the middle of the night-” You paused, recognizing the can. “Why are you pouring red bull into your drink?”
“Science.” He replied, pouring most of the red bull into his cup.
“Didn’t you just make it?”
Genji made a face as the cup overfilled and its contents spilled onto his hand.
“It's cold.” He said after a while, walking over to the sink and pouring the drink down the drain.
“Are you...are you okay?”
He grabbed a box and tried to place it back in the cupboard.
However, when the cupboard was too tall for him, he placed the box on the counter.
“I don’t need help. I’m fine.” He said, rather quickly, before climbing on the counter and placing the box in the cupboard above.
However, he didn’t grab the others, he just sat on the counter, looking at the floor.
You stood in place, you knew one thing, if he spoke first, if he asked you a question, you could talk about why he was upset, if he didn’t say anything, if he said he was going to bed or yelled at you, you wouldn’t get anything out of him.
“Why do you love me?” He muttered.
“You want the long version or the short version?” You said a small grin on your face.
He snorted, turning to the window on the other side of the room.
“What time is it…?” He asked.
“One thirty in the morning.” You replied, walking over and leaning on the fridge.
“Huh,” Genji whispered. “You think Hanzo is still awake?”
“Probably. He’s either playing a video game-”
“That he smuggled into the palace and father hasn’t found yet?”
“Yeah. Or he’s filling out paperwork.”
Genji turned to you, grinning.
You frowned. “You still didn’t answer my question from earlier.”
“I will never understand how you change your mood so quickly.” You said as he fiddled with the neck of your t-shirt.
He placed his forehead on your chest.
Silence followed after that.
You looked down at him, placing a hand in his hair.
“Did you have a nightmare…?”
“Pft, I don’t have nightmares,” Genji says. “I have nothing to be afraid of. I’m a Shimada.”
You raised an eyebrow. “I take that as a ‘yes’ then?”
“So what, it’s stupid anyway.” He said. “You’ll laugh at me if I tell you.”
“I won’t laugh.” You replied. “And if this nightmare scared you that much, to the point where you tried to mix...coffee..?”
“Right...with Redbull at one-thirty in the morning, it clearly bothered you enough.” You finished. “If you don’t want to tell me that’s fine though.”
“No, I’ll tell you,” He looks up at you. “So basically, I’m naked, right.”
He flashed you a look when the corners of your lips almost turned to a smile.
“You promised not to laugh.” He whined.
“I’m not.” You said. “Then what happened?”
“uh..well...I’m sitting in front of well..everyone, I’ve ever known. And they’re...well..they were calling me names.”
“Do you...mind telling me what exactly they were calling you?”
“Transphobic slurs kept calling me a whore, and stupid shit like that.”
You could tell he was getting upset.
Just the way his fists clenched on his thighs was evident enough.
You placed your hands on his shoulders.
“Uhm...I mean...no...they uh...they touched me and stuff but, that’s...yeah that’s it.”
You shook your head. “Genji, since when have you cared about what other people think of you?”
He snapped his head up. “I-I don’t it's just-” A pause, and a sigh. “well...I don’t know, sometimes it becomes too much.”
“Sorry, that was too harsh.” You muttered.
“You wanna just ramble to me, or do you want me to give support?”
“Mmh, I wanna...go to bed.”
“Alright, do you want to talk about it in the morning?”
“I...I’ll think about it.”
“Carry me like in those cheesy romance movies.”
You shook your head, as he climbed onto your back, clinging to you.
“There, happy?” You asked.
“Yeah, I might just fall asleep here.”
“You cannot stop me if I do.”
You snorted because you knew he was right.
