Visiting New Hampshire
Blogging doesn't come easily to me, so even though I have ideas it takes me a while to actually get them written and posted. So, this should have been done a few weeks ago.
One of my goals has been to get to all 50 states before I turn 50. On 24 September 2017 with 7 months to spare, I went to the last three states on my list, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine! I was actually conceived in Maine, so this was full circle.
One of these last states, New Hampshire, was the birthplace of my paternal grandmother, Alice Elfreda Youngberg Milne. Her birth record has no first name and no address, and lists her as the 2nd child to parents as Birger Ljanberg and Alice Landelin (it really looks like an L, but she was Sandelin). The surname was Ljungberg, later anglicized to Youngberg.
Birger and Alexandra met and married in Worcester, Massachusetts. Their first daughter, Lillian Olivia was born there in 1895, so in June of 1897, they had not been living too long in New Hampshire.

According to my father, his grandmother, Alexandra told him that she worked in the local textile mill and Birger had trouble finding work, but spent a lot of time fishing. The birth record listed Birger's occupation as "weaver", so presumably one or both of my great grandparents worked at the textile mill. It's now an apartment building and I did get to see it.
Birger and Alexandra's 3rd and last child, Gustav Henry was born in Dayton, Ohio in November of 1898 when Alice was 17 months old. And by 1900, the family was living in Cleveland, Ohio. They did a lot of moving around in those early years.
The Clay Library was built in 1896 according to the plaque, and 1895 in large font on the front. At any rate, it was a new building when my ancestors lived in (East) Jaffrey.
It's always fun for me to visit the places where my ancestors lived and sort of walk in their footsteps. At least getting an idea of the setting and landscape. My grandmother probably didn't recall anything of her very early days in New Hampshire, and I don't know that she ever returned. She herself wound up living in various states, including California, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Therefore, she visited many states, if not all 50. My father went to 49 states, all but Rhode Island.
The 3rd season returns August 8th, with season 1 cast member, Masika appearing in a few episodes. Fans demanded her back after Mona fired her for her part in a domestic violence incident with #YoungBerg. Mona kicked them off as a public stance against domestic violence, but....
