“Is Gregorio going to be joining us tonight?” Pepa teased, leaning into Julieta’s shoulder.
“Not tonight,” Julieta said, rolling her eyes. “With the Founding Festival tomorrow it felt too busy.”
“So he’s scared of Mamá?” Bruno said as he carried the stack of plates.
“He’s not scared,” she insisted. “Just...he’s aware of how busy she’s been lately.”
“I just hope you can survive a night without him before succumbing to heartbreak,” Pepa said. She followed Bruno with the rest of the tableware while Julieta stood at the head of the long table, arms crossed as she bore her siblings’ taunts.
“Are you going to keep making fun of my boyfriend or are you going to help me carry the food in?”
