why does everyone always act like mothers are so mature like i have to write something for school that takes a lot of my time and my mom wanted to see what i had already but all that i really had was the basic structure and a red line to follow but that line was really just suggestions from my yesterday self and motivational talk so i had something to look forward to and i didn’t want my mom to see that and she flipped out and screamed at me while i was being mostly calm, i mean, i got mad but not irrational and when i asked her why she wanted to see it so badly she said “to see what i mamaged to do so far” and when i said that i didn’t want her to see yet because it’s not done yet she just repeatedd herself.
my mother screamed at me because i wouldn’t let her see, because i knew she would be mad and give me a lecture about how i’m “wasting too much time” and that i “can’t do anything by myself” or something like that.
she screamed at me because i wouldn’t let her do something.
my 54 year old mother of four got upset and irrational because her youngest didn’t let her see something unfinished.
she quite literally threw a tantrum.
she also screamed at me that i “need help (with the school thing) and should not believe for even one second that i don’t and that i am so incompetent that i can’t ask for help” like i never asked you or any of my family for help, you forced your help onto me, you never gave me an option and maybe i want to do some things by myself but know very well that if i tell you you’re gonna want to know more about it and i know you’re gonna offer your completely unasked for advice, making me feel like everything i do that even remotely resembles something that i would do is destined to fail because i’m stupid, incompetent and can’t do anything by myself.
like no. i appreciate that you wanna help me but i don’t appreciate at all that you’re not giving me a choice about wether i want it or not, you’re forcing your advice onto me before i even had the chance to try myself, how do you not realize this.
so yeah, i think i have a pretty solid reason for wanting my parents to know as little about what i do as possible.
thankfully my sibling don’t live with me anymore and have their own things to do or they would still try to force their unwanted advice onto me
and believe it or not, that can severely damage someone, too. like, i’ve never been able to feel truly proud of myself because i always had help. i don’t know what that is or what it feels like. even now, as i write small and big storys, i never feel any pride, i just do it for fun and because i have a lot of pent up stress and anger that i have to release and getting that out feels good, but that’s about it.
i legitimately never how to be proud of myself for achieving something by myself because no one ever let me do anything by myself.
so if any of you ever have children, don’t force your own suggestions onto them without even letting them try. and make sure their siblings don’t do the same.
