Diana was sitting on the floor, resting her elbows against her knees, staring off into nothingness. She’d been thinking about timelines again - especially the one where she'd chosen to protect Phi over the planet - and how so much of what had happened had circled back to her. How it was all her fault. No matter how good this world was, there had to be hundreds upon thousands of bad worlds, all because of her. No amount of heroism could ever make up for it.
“I think I’m a bad person, Sigma.” Her eyes began to gloss over, her breathing more pronounced. “I had a good morning today. I woke up, ate breakfast, drank coffee and lived like everyone else. But I don’t think I deserve... I really don’t deserve to be happy. If I’m ever happy, I’m a bad person for it.”
