It’s Halloween and your muse is home alone, except for mine who is in the closet with a knife
It is in the spirit of Halloween. To ward off evil spirits and make children happy. Hah. Laughable. Spectral entities do not exist and all those stories surrounding it probably had some sort of logical, non-supernatural reason.
It is with those thoughts that Aulus finds himself alone in his house on Halloween night. He politely refused the invitations to parties by his acquaintances (the tolerable ones, at least) and turned off the lights of the whole house. No need to let anyone know the presence of its owner. The last thing he wants is hordes of children in ludicrous costumes ringing his doorbell all night.
A sigh escapes his lips as he rubs his eyes. Odd. The evening is still young and yet, Aulus feels like he hasn’t slept for days. Surely the stress of today’s events isn’t affecting him that much, has it? His hand cups his mouth at a jaw creaking yawn that erupts as if to answer his question. Maybe he can catch forty winks before resuming his unfinished work.
Another yawn resounds in his empty living room and he knows that consciousness is slipping away like dripping water. Making himself comfortable on the couch with his remaining strength, Aulus briefly wonders how heavy his limbs feel and the way his eyes are slowly gluing shut. Why is he so sleepy?
The last thing he remembers before he slinks into darkness is the sound of the closet door creaking open.

Good. The sleeping pills work. His prey is asleep. Morty steps out of the closet he has been hiding in all day with a large kitchen knife in hand. A crooked smile unfitting of his innocent looking face, the blonde stalks towards the couch, twirling the ten inches of death expertly.
It is always easy to take out unwanted obstacles. No one ever suspects him. Morty is just the quiet geek that likes to read books and cannot even kill a fly. Amusing how ironic that statement is. Those who block his path are obstacles that must be removed, like the purple haired teen is.
You will no longer be in my way, just the way I want it.
He stands in front of the defenseless man who is blissfully unaware, knife poised over his heart. A crazed laugh echoes briefly, drowning out the deep breaths Aulus takes.
In a second, it will be his last.
