Keigo Koyanagi is not a bad writer solely because he was on the production committee for a couple episodes of Spider Riders. I have not actually watched any anime he did script work for, so I can’t say what I think about his writing. But good grief, how should I break this down.
1)Spider Riders is by far not the worst anime ever. Watch Glasslip, Seisen Cerbreus, Ninja Resurrection, Gundam Seed Destiny, Battle Royal High School, and Zettai Shougeki: Platonic Heart if you want to see how anime can be truly bad. I love Spider Riders more for the characters and ideas than the actual plot, and there are plenty of things I wish they did better, but anyone who watches enough anime can tell you, you can do -way- worse. (And I’m referring to Spider Riders in Japanese. It’s much, much better than the butchered dub.)
2)Production Manager and Script are not even the same task. Koyanagi didn’t write any episodes of Spider Riders, so don’t blame him. If you wanted to say he’s a bad writer because one of the episodes he worked on was episode 35, you might be getting somewhere with me. But actually, Yousuke Kuroda wrote that episode. And I wouldn’t even call him a bad writer. It’s just one of many hits and misses on his resume. The guy also worked on Gundam Build Fighters, which I hear more good than bad about around the internet.
Yeah, sorry. But being woken up to what amounted to ‘LOL Koyonagi’s show got cancelled because he worked on Spider Riders years ago. What a bad anime, LOL‘ is obviously going to make me rant.
