When did you realize you were transgender?
I distinctly remember one day when I was 15, suddenly realizing that I didn’t like the categories of ‘boy’ or ‘girl’. I pondered it for... probably weeks, and for the next year I was really confused and couldn’t understand it. ‘Androgynous’ wasn’t really cutting it, bc that’s really based solely on appearance, but that’s all people would suggest to me. (Also agender, but that didn’t stick well either).
When I was like 17 the word genderfluid became a Thing, and I was super excited because this felt like it!! This was the thing!! And I made a bunch of genderqueer things for myself because I was so excited.
Then in college I started feeling more and more masculine (and incredibly isolated from women, most of the girls in my improv troupe did NOT like me and I think they saw me as a ‘traitor’ to the sex bc i hung out with all the guys).
I think I was 19 or 20 when I dropped the ‘she’ pronoun entirely, it didn’t feel right anymore.
Meeting a new group of people in the past year and a half who didn’t know me through all those transition periods have really helped me feel comfortable being masculine bc its something I can establish from the get-go. No worry over changing names all the time and changing pronouns and trying to have this conversation with all my straight, cis, male friends. (They’re good dudes but they make jokes about it a lot and give me weird looks when i get upset)

Oh man, good luck arthur, i mean its cool that it gives you stuff to do!!! But don’t be afraid to say no to stuff if you really don’t wanna do it, please dont push yourself too hard. Though good on you for planning to do all that stuff! itll be good for you tbh
