Maddison’s family have been fighting with her since day one. Their name might be an old one but it’s by no means powerful or particularly wealthy. Everything about Maddie, from her alternative hair colors to her low tolerance for bullshit, makes her stand out in the society that her family wishes to be a part of. Maddie is an activist, a feminist, an artist, a free spirit in every aspect. Maddie’s only downfall is her recklessness and drive for adventure, the convincing thrill of adrenaline. She may have been magical, everyone in her family knew, but they let her go to public school with a mentor for magical studies at home. Then suddenly last year the Deòir family moved to Scotland. There was no explanation other than ‘this is our heritage’ and ‘it’s time you learn magic formally.’

As an act against the move, Maddie often snuck out in the wee hours of the night, trespassed, and even indulged in drinking and partying—though she still looked too young to really get away with it. Without trying, Maddison manages to engross herself into whatever she is working on. Though, usually it isn’t an essay due the next week. People are her focus. Although usually very easy going, Maddie is one of the Hufflepuffs that are very easy to upset. She tends to be very defensive about her habits, preferring to be picking at someone else instead of having to explain herself. With all her rebellion, Maddie fails to notice that nicer things have begun to furnish her house and her mother is wearing more tailored clothing. Unknown to her up until the past summer, the Deòir family has aligned with The Arcanists.
