It’s Never Too Late
If you’re unhappy with something, you should never tell yourself it’s too late. I know a few people out there that are really unhappy with their careers. No matter what age you are, you should always strive to be happy. Being happy actually makes you live longer since you are avoiding stress. Isn’t that awesome? Well I think it is!
So what do you really want to be? An Accountant? A Nurse? A Doctor? If you have the opportunity, make sure to take it! Why live a mediocre life, when you could be on top of the world with happiness from a simple change in career. Go for it and be you!

Are you a student coming out of high school or just stuck on deciding what to do with your life? Have you already decided what path to take?
Over a year ago, I had just came out of high school and wasn’t sure about what to do with my life. I was in the path of deciding to work full time or furthering my education with post-secondary schooling. A lot of my decisions were influenced by both my friends and family.
Most of my friends were going to work full-time and decide on post-secondary later on in life. I didn’t want to be the only one going to school since I wouldn’t have as much money as my friends would, so this was an option. My parents however wanted me to attend post-secondary but take medicine because all my other cousins were doing the same.
I’ll cut to the chase and tell you right now that I did decide to take on post-secondary but pursued business administration. You might ask but how did you decide between those options? Well I thought of the following questions and then knew what I wanted to be in the future. (1) What was my interest before my family and friends made any suggestions? (2) Where do I see myself in 5 years?
It took me quite a while to answer that first question. I thought about it really hard and figured out what I enjoyed in high school. I broke my favourite classes into Accounting, Management and Software Applications. It became clear that taking business would make me happy, and I could easily picture myself working somewhere in those fields in 5 years. I told my parents and they surprisingly supported my decision because they just wanted me to be happy. My friends also thought it was good idea since getting post-secondary done earlier might be a better choice. Although some people did disagree, I believe it is always best to follow what makes you happy in life. But I have to remember that I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family and friends. So supporting others is always important!
For those who have already taken on a path, what helped you decide on these tough pathways to choose from?
