Rails devs - "just make it work first"
it seems a real luxury to go to an event where everyone is somehow involved with ruby. it's like visiting family. it's comfortable. Went to a RubyLA meetup hosted at the yp.com office in Glendale. One of their employees gave a quick talk on Angular.js, and it was pretty eye opening for me. All these UI functions that I had used Bootstrap's JS functions to hack around are all handled by Angular. I don't think it's as simple as just a 30 minute demo can suggest, but it's definitely something I will look into--i just won't implement it on version 0. it was also great talking to some senior developers on some of the questions i had about my app; namely, how to calculate sums, etc for financial models--whether to do that on the client side or server side. the general answer was: just make it work first, then think about optimization later. gotta love those rails devs. totally in sync with my philosophy.
