Just a few myth busters about #Kwanzaa, please share as widely as possible. 1. Kwanzaa is not a "Black" version of Christmas. Its a Pan African Cultural Celebration. 2. You don't have to choose between Kwanzaa or Christmas, you can celebrate them both if you desire. 3. We don't give gifts for 7 days during Kwanzaa. Gifts are given on the last day and primarily to children. The gifts should include a book, something hand made and or an African Heritage symbol. 4. You don't have to change your religion to celebrate Kwanzaa. Its a cultural holiday, not a religious holiday. 5. Kwanzaa was conceived as a celebration in 1966, based upon the combining of several different African traditions already in existence for hundreds of years. Although Kwanzaa is a new holiday, its roots date back to antiquity. 6. Celebrating Kwanzaa doesn't make you muslim or mean you hate white people. 7.
