i just wanted to say i finally found time to sit down and read it all (admittedly it kept me up till 5am last night) and i am in LOVE with your current fic!! the way you write evan never fails to resonate with me and this particular story feels so special for so many reasons- i just love how you manage to weave such strong characterisation into the plot while keeping the whole thing well paced and natural!! i can't wait to read the final two chapters and whatever you write next!!!!

I'm sorry that there has been such a long wait for the update. My brain has straight up not been having a good time right now and while I'm slowly untangling myself from the hell of writer's block, I haven't quite gotten to the other side. I swear I am working on it. (It's already 12k - though I might take part of it out and make it a oneshot bc I don't want to change the rating of the whole fic... TBD).

Anywho, thank you a lot for sending this message. This story has been, in many ways, a way of healing some old hurts and of getting to put a lot of Knowledge I Have For Niche Reasons into a story. Evan's Hyper-vigilant, always on guard, extremely perceptive except when he isn't thing is a part of myself I'm learning to grow away from (just like Evan!), and this fic has been helpful. It has been really lovely also to gain a number of new readers through this story as well as seeing some familiar names in my comments. <3

okay so... I forgot to put this in my comment sjsjjs... I do this with every single one of your fics because my top interests are mitski and DEH and I literally cannot NOT mix them together. But Valentine, Texas... By mitski.... Reminds me of ur new fix (I do NOT remember the name for it and i blanked out on the abbreviation snsmsms) and also kinda sorta Heat Lightning (but I only thought of that recently with the new chapter with the found family going on) :)

Friend I appreciate you So Much because without you I would just be an Old out here knowing like No things about Mitski. Gonna slap those babies into my fic playlist and have a lil party.

Also don’t feel weird about not remembering the title. It is a long ass title. I got all schmancy about it at my best friend’s suggestion bc I’m at a point in my fanfic career where I can just title my stuff like a 2004-era Fall Out Boy song.

Just as an FYI.

I probably could have called it Just Like Heaven, only that is also the title of a Reese Witherspoon/Mark Ruffalo romcom where Fluffalo falls in love with a ghost who isn’t really a ghost… Basically it has the tiniest shred of similarity with the fic that I didn’t want folks mixing up the source material lol.
