Tenkuu no Escaflowne (The Vision of Escaflowne) movie ost. Yubiwa ( Ring ) by Maaya Sakamoto. This was my favorite anime growing up and the reason I got into japanese music.Listening to it now and seeing Maaya singing it live gives me so much goosebumps.😭 At that time, internet was still unheard of (atleast in my neighboorhood) and TV was where I could only enjoy her music not until it hit 2000s, and I can still remember I only got to know her name thru the early anime magazines I used to buy - QUESTOR . oh my,who still remember that magazine? I hope I'm not the only one. When finally I got introduced to the internet, the first thing I tried to search was GUNDAM WING, VISION OF ESCAFLOWNE and MAAYA SAKAMOTO 🤣🤣 I wanted to see her face, the voice to my fav anime and from there, started my fangirling years of japanese music. 😊 #maayasakamoto #thevisionofescaflowne #yubiwa
GEMINI
Gemini: Favourite song?
So I don’t have a single favorite song. And even if I did it wouldn’t be anything you’d heard of anyway, and I don’t say that in a hipster sense, I say that in a “my favorite music is from 1989″ sense. But I do have a song that is ‘our’ song for my husband and me. That’s Yubiwa, from the Escaflowne movie (2003? 2004?). It was the first dance at our wedding.
You can’t really find a good version of it on youtube, since Maaya’s lawyers (Sony?) have basically scrubbed the site. But the lyrics probably will give you an idea of why my husband and I (who were separated for a year when I went to Japan folllowing my dream) love it so much. (This translation is original.)
The tears keep coming, one after anotherBlurring your final smile until I can’t see it‘Don’t go, don’t go, stay here’flies into the sky and catch the light
