hi! i'm currently taking a break to prepare for a couple events happening in august, but this is a quick little fluffy fic for a friend!!! from what i know, most yubruaki content is pretty angsty, so here i am to enforce fluff on you all instead. hope you like it!!
When exhaustion finally hit, Yusei felt the room beginning to spin, the ground beneath him moving as though he was on a boat, rocked by aggressive waves and winds. He just about made it to the couch before his legs gave way to the jelly sensation that had started crawling up his veins, collapsing onto the soft furnishing with a small gasp of air. He knew he had overdone it this time, a pounding headache and sore eyes told him that much. Despite knowing the pain he would inevitably be in if he let himself fall asleep here, he didn’t have much of an alternative; he simply didn’t have the strength to pull himself back up. And so, wincing as he shifted to get comfortable, he allowed strained eyes to close, drifting off into a dreamless sleep.
He must have been like that for a couple of hours, because when he woke up, there was sunlight streaming through the windows. He groaned, burying his face into fabric to avoid it, taking a moment to register that this was not the couch. No, it was his own pillow. Just as that realisation dawned, the light vanished, disappearing as curtains were drawn to cast the room back into the darkness that he found so comforting.
“Are you okay, Yusei?” A familiar voice spoke, weight shifting at the edge of the bed. He rolled onto his back once again, eyes blurry but just making out the presence of red and blue. That explained how he had gotten here, then: Aki and Bruno.
“Yeah, yeah. Just… tired.” He admitted with a little frown, sighing as fingertips brushed his fringe from his face. “ Really tired.”
Bruno sat down on the other side of him, legs crossed as he glanced between Aki and Yusei. He remained quiet for a moment, as the redhead continued to speak for them. “That doesn’t surprise me, you’ve been up really late the past few nights.” She lay down beside him, resting her head on his shoulder with a small sigh of her own. As his eyes adjusted to the world around him, he could see the slight furrow in her brow as she glanced up at him, concern laced in those beautiful eyes.
“I think you need some more sleep, Yusei.” Bruno’s voice, monotone as always yet somehow conveying all the love possible in the world. He moved closer then, taking the chance to lie down by his side, reaching across to place a hand on Aki’s shoulder; Yusei’s arm wrapped around her waist in the same moment, and her cheeks pinkened in response.
“He’s right,” She added, and the way that both of them stared at Yusei made it impossible to argue with them. Honestly, not that he even wanted to. If he could stay like this forever, he happily would.
When he nodded in response, visibly giving in, she let out a pleased squeak and nuzzled against his chest, while Bruno’s other arm moved to rest under his back, pulling both him and Aki closer to the tallest of the trio. He didn’t have the heart to admit that he didn’t feel able to sleep any further, but he supposed it didn’t really matter, right? He had the two people that he loved the most by his side, and that was all that he could focus on.
