Yui Appreciation Week
Day 7 (FINAL): Favourite quote^^
I can’t believe that this is the final day of the Yui Appreciation Week!!!
ANYHOW... Most of my favourite quotes came from the first season of the anime, so I’m just going to list them out ;)
“I am nobody’s prey...” - Yui to the Sakamaki brothers; First season, Episode 1
Having had learnt that the Sakamaki brothers are vampires and escaping from them would be inevitable, Yui accepts her new surroundings by challenging her daily day-to-day basis with these sadistic creatures. However, she makes it clear to the vampires that no matter how they treat her whether good or bad, she is not their possession nor their prey, but an ordinary girl who has her own pride and purpose in her
“But I will still believe. No matter how painful life becomes, I will still believe. Man is weak, so I must believe...” - Yui to Laito; First season, Episode 6
This has to be one of the best quotes of the anime’s first season! In this episode, Subaru actually gives Yui the chance to escape from them, but Yui chose not to, because she is determined to learn the truth of her past (in the first episode of the anime, she found out that Seiji is not her biological father). Despite the mistreatment she gets from the vampires, Yui still remains faithful to her religion (she’s a catholic). She no longer cares about the pain and the torments she suffers daily, and instead goes through with it in order to find the answers to her questions. Yui also proves in this quote that she can ‘think’ and is not stupid nor weak
“Now no one will get hurt...” - Yui to the Sakamaki brothers; First season, Episode 11
Another good example why Yui is such a good heroine! Even though I think the anime didn’t show the good qualities of Yui from the game franchise, I still think her sacrifice in this scene was remarkable. Some people have said that she could’ve just used Subaru’s knife to stab Richter, but instead she stabbed herself. Why? It is not because she wanted to stop Cordelia from possessing her, she wanted to protect the vampires. Her bravery shows that she puts others before herself!
In conclusion to this wonderful Yui Appreciation Week, I am SO glad that I was given the opportunity to share my thoughts and opinions on Diabolik Lovers heroine; Yui Komori. I really can’t stand all the hate she gets and I think she deserves more! Some people keep viewing her as a ‘voiceless proxy’ in the games, but Yui is Yui. Though her name is changeable, Yui will always be Diabolik Lover’s heroine!
What made Yui into such a wonderful and lovable character was; her bravery, caring, kind-hearted, selfless, and optimistic personality. No matter how many times she is tortured by the vampires either physically, verbally or mentally, she keeps her head up high and pushes herself forward instead of breaking down into a helpless heap. I still cannot believe that she is able to maintain her lovely and gentle smile in these situations!
Finally, I just want to say, that Yui is a ‘character’, not a ‘proxy’. Even if she may be voiceless in the games, Yui is still Yui. Nothing can change that. She is a angel sent by Karlheinz to teach and change those sadistic creatures. Yui is the only heroine who can melt the vampire’s icy hearts and fill them up with warmth! No other heroine can replace her!
Thank you again for allowing me to participate in Yui Appreciation Week and I hope you Yui fans enjoyed reading this!
