Helping with Panic

Ilona and Yuichiro had just completed a particularly difficult mission.

They were both understandably very tired so they found a place to rest for the night.

After a few hours, Ilona woke up in a panic. She’d had a nightmare.

Tears formed in her wide eyes as her breathing became more and more panicked.

Yuichiro stirred awake at the sound of Ilona’s panicked breathing.

“What’s wrong..?” He asked suddenly, causing a gasp to escape her lips.

“N-nothing.. I j-just had a nightmare..” She explained though she sounded frantic as she tried to calm her breathing down.

Yuichiro gently but firmly held her by her shoulders.

He sat up and pulled her up with himself.

“Lona, look at me, ok? I want you to try to match my breathing, can you do that for me?” He instructed calmly and she nodded shakily.

He began to take in deep breaths, holding eye contact with Ilona to be sure she’d follow his lead.

She tried her best to match him. At first her breathing was pretty shallow but it eventually began to match his.

“Ok good.. Now, keep doing that until you’ve calmed down.. I don’t want you to pass out.” He said and gently caressed her cheek.

She nods and hugs him. “Thank you for helping me, Yui..” *She muttered softly.

He awkwardly hugs her back and pats her back.

“No problem..”

They both go back to sleep after a few minutes.

Their dreams are peaceful for the rest of the night.

Ilona and Yuichiro completed yet another mission together.

Ilona swiped her hand across her nose to see red.

She huffed and Yuichiro looked over to see what was wrong.

“What is it?” He asked then saw the red liquid slowly falling from her nose.

“Here, let me help you with that.” Yuichiro continued, moving closer to his half demon girlfriend and pulling out some tissues to help her clean her nose.

“Thank you, Yui..” Ilona said, light blush grazing her cheeks.

“It’s no problem. Is there anyway to stop this from happening?” He asked, a worried glint in his eyes.

“Not that I know of..” Ilona spoke after pondering the question for a moment.

“Maybe you should try to control your emotions when in battle. I’ve noticed that your demon form is connected to your emotions..” Yuichiro said thoughtfully, still carefully wiping Ilona’s nose.

“Hmm… That might work.!” She said with a smile.

Yuichiro put down the tissue that he had been using then reached up and held Ilona’s cheek.

“I love you, Illy.” He spoke, a love struck look in his breathtaking mint colored eyes.

Ilona’s cheeks reddened and she smiled. “I love you too, Yui.”

They stood up and went back to their respective hashira estates, small smiles on their faces.
