Yukidama [Snowball] - Yoko Kanno Napple Tale: Arsia in Daydream (Sega Dreamcast, 2000)
“Yuki no Hitodama – Ghost Lights in the Snow” will tell the story of Akari, third son of a samurai family, and Kyōka, a mysterious musician. In an age ravaged by civil war, demons and vengeful spirits threaten to conquer the world of the living. Solitary and cynical, Akari leads a withdrawn existence, bearing the weight of a tragic past on his shoulders. With his loyal companion Yasha, a wild akita, he wanders around the country leading a life holding no meaning. Akari is ready to see life go on unchanged to the day of his death, until his path crosses with Kyōka’s, whom he meets by following a trail of ghost lights. The musician lives by offering his art to a rich family of the north, in a place where war seems to be just a faraway nightmare. But his music’s beauty hides a terrible secret. From their intertwined destines, a chance of salvation will arise for both the living and the dead. But what will that put at stake? More specific information about the first chapter of the story will be out in the next days! Stay tuned
Yukidama is a relaxing, Zen-like physics based puzzle adventure in which you roll a pentagonal ball around vast and varied low poly levels in a quest to help the protagonist understand his place in the world.

Getting involved in a four-handed project is always like setting out on an adventure: while moving the first uncertain steps along the path traced on the map, it's always possible to meet with unexpected surprises when reaching the depth of a plot and its characters. That's the reason why we have realised that the Yukidama project will require much more of our time and passion than we had initially imagined. The previously announced division into acts will stay unchanged (two comic books, two light novels), but after some long night meetings we decided upon publishing the comics in three additional mini-releases of two chapters each. We plan to open preorders for the first two episodes - "First Winter"- starting next week, while we are considering the possibility of a crowfunding for the follow-up in the near future. Keep following us for the upcoming updates! The story of "Yuki no Hitodama" begins here!
Yukidama will come out in four chapters, to satisfy manga fans as well as book readers: going back and forth between the protagonists’ point of views, the story will be divided in two comic books and two illustrated light novels. The first episodes are in the making already: here you can see the first sketches of the two comics’ covers. Don’t miss the first chapter’s preview on this page, and more info about the first light novel that will follow in the future!

the special effects are just like…. lol. they blew their budget on fake blood and leather manties
can you buy that in a package deal in a post 300 world or
No, but you're right. It actually adds to my enjoyment of the show, frankly. I love 300 but Snyder's visual style is so dark (um, actually dark, not gritty/depressing) that it half-tricks the eyes into thinking it's mildly serious? At least compared to Spartacus, where they use a lot of the same techniques (slo-mo, gratuitous blood, close-ups on body parts in kill shots) while not doing a very good of hiding the proverbial wires cringe-cackling omg. I just enjoy it so much.
