My hometown is in state of emergency right now, for at least the declared 14 days. Internet is spotty, social media is shut down, there is an established curfew and police checkpoints throughout the city. Protests and riots are still going strong, despite what the media says.

Police are siding with the protesters in major cities.

Reports are coming in that the protesters is Almaty and Aktobe took the akimat, which is the key government building of a city. Doors and windows are torn out and smashed.

Casualties reported on the security forces’ sides. Nothing heard from the protesters’ but I assume they also suffered losses.

Protesters took control of the airports in Almaty and Aktobe. The railways in those cities are shut down. Effectively, the cities are closed off and no one is able to leave.

Internet and all mobile connections are shut down.

Internet is back on after 6 hours. At least one casualty confirmed from the protesters. Eight casualties on the national guard, 317 were injured.

Ex-president Tokayev confirmed that he asked the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, which include Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan for help and likened the events to a terrorist act. They are confirmed to intervene as a large airship of ‘humanitarian help’ (which is most likely soldiers) from Russia landed in Almaty. It is noticed that the protesters show a high degree of organisation and are targeting government bases and weaponries/weapon shops.

Girls and women are urged to stay home and act as if it’s empty as reports are filing in of women assaulted and murdered.

- unlearning ur preconceived biases and assumptions about some women's bodies

- realizing that penises are not masculine, predatory, aggressive, or tools of penitration and can infact be feminine and delicate

- realizing that ur assumptions about what a womans body looks like are rooted in racism and misogyny

- understanding that all attempts to categorize and standardize what a womans body "must" look like is always just an attempt to police and control women

- unlearning the lie that u can tell someones gender based on their physical features and that that gender predicts anything about them

- undoing ur association of vaginas with safety and penises with violence. no one is inherently a safe person to be around just because of their genitalia

and the crux of what this all boils down to is to stop looking at men and women as separate categories of human beings defined by arbitrary physical characteristics

we are all variations on a human being. we are a spectrum of presentation. having a penis or a vagina is no different a variation than having blue or brown eyes and says just as little about a person

because what a womans body looks like does not define her as a person
