are the conditions at the Yulin dog/cat festival worse than anywhere else?

The root of the issue is that conditions differ for dog meat farming just as they do for any other kind of farming - the assumption that there are American/european farmers who love their animals and treat them as well as they’re able to, but every Chinese dog farmer is a cartoon villain is rooted in cultural stereotypes, western-centric media representations and racism.

What I find most interesting is that, despite the focus on how dogs are treated during Yulin, white western meat eaters aren’t asking for industry reform or better welfare - they are almost always calling for abolition. If we are so convinced that western animal farming is so much more humane, why aren’t we calling for dogs in yulin to have the same treatment as pigs in the west? Practically speaking, that would be unacceptable to most peope, and I think that most westerners know that already, whether they admit it or not. The issue isn’t how people in Yulin farm dogs, it’s that they farm them at all - which is how vegans feel about every other farmed animal, too.

I got back some of my photos from Katsucon, and first up is Yu'lon. This was a costume I wasn't the most secure in (It was a bit more revealing than my usual fare). But I'm happy with how it came out. Shooting within the jungle part of the Atrium was also a ton of fun.

I finally finished it !!! my drawing of Yulon’s fan fiction The Wrath Of Sabellian !!! My god, but this fan fiction is always just beautiful, and still I have it translated by google … So I do not have all the subtleties of writing. I’m just 5 years late … I’m almost at the end of the story (last chapter) I’m not sure that my drawing pays as much homage as I would like … but as I enjoyed doing it! (and as I have shit too … but it must not be said) I put the link, even though I think many of you know it …
