if solar opposites were to write a new years ep:

it starts off with jesse, terry and yumyulack in the living room writing new year’s resolutions (jesse’s idea) and it’s all the usual: change eating habits, work out more, getting organized, get more sleep (probably for the wrong reasons knowing them). korvo walks in and asks what the fuck they’re doing and jesse explains to him all excited because (technically speaking) this is probably their first “earth new year”. korvo then complains about how earth’s years go by so slowly (i assume shlorp has a different rotation in the universe) then terry exclaims and gets excited about new years rocking’ eve in Times Square because you get to sit around and watch a ball drop and make out on television at midnight.

korvo, to everyone’s surprise, is just like “fuck it let’s do it” and they all take a trip to new york for new year’s eve. jesse is still determined to finish her new year’s resolutions before it strikes midnight even tho korvo said “it’s all bullshit anyway. humans can’t help but indulge in their seven deadly sins anyway. you think they really stick to those silly ‘resolutions’ for an entire 365 days?” to jesse’s determination she argues with korvo saying “it’s not about completely sticking to it, it’s about the effort korvo!” to which korvo reluctantly goes with it and makes some type of time stopping ray instead of just using “The Lakehouse Device” to write to their past selves afterwards (he loves his family okay?)

the aliens decide to do their plans in new york right before the ball drops. they shoot the ray 30 seconds to midnight and gets to working. the usual comical stuff insues: terry drinking his ass off because he wants to get sober (obviously not going to happen be so real), yumyulack making stocks so he can go into the new year with money, jesse attempting to rescue animals, korvo (shocking he wrote some) probably trying to commit to starting a show that everyone hypes up and he doesn’t wanna be left out.

Obviously time doesn’t stop, it just slows down dramatically. The crew still has a bunch of resolutions left over so korvo does it again, he slows down time. and again. and again. until eventually The New Years Baby (probably a literal baby-god) comes and stops them because why are they messing with time? AGAIN. korvo explains, baby isn’t having it and it breaks out in fighting.

eventually they technically defeat the NYB, finish their tasks and then continue the ball drop. the crowd counting down from 10 echoed in their ears and once it reaches one, the “happy new year” appears on that projector and korvo is just “that’s the ‘totally epic’ ball drop we risked our lives over?” terry all excited about it is just like “that was the greatest thing ever! oh look a camera!” and just pulls korvo into their new year kiss right in front of it (probably goes too far with the tongue, traumatizing many home viewers) and korvo just expresses his fondness of making it to the new year with surrounded by the people he willingly loves.
