omg wat happened in how i met ur mother ..... i’ve never been invested but now i must kno..
the whole thing was so upsetting I’ve blocked most of the detail out, but in summary: they spent a decade teasing a big reveal and a happy ending. the characters developed over all that time and people were attached to them, as you’d imagine.
so the finale rolled around and the creators apparently decided they wanted to stick to the ideas they’d conceived a decade before and reverted all those years of character development, along with not delivering on what they’d been teasing for so long. people literally thought the finale was a prank when it aired. spoiler: it was not.
