This is especially funny to me because of a Townshend comment I remember him making in an interview years back--he remarked wryly that he was concerned he and the Stones and the Beatles were all going to be beheaded in the streets, that they’d be out of a job at best or at worst publicly executed. They had reason to be nervous, evidently!
