Platinum games and Nintendo really went through all that work to quell the drama of the Bayonetta 3 release only to give us one of the messiest storylines and one of the worst endings in gaming history. Wow, what a week.
XeronTokyo on Twitter did an amazing thing and tracked down concrete information on our favorite SMT4A scenario writer, Yusuke Miyata!
Miyata’s Twifile (site for expanded Twitter profiles)
Miyata’s Twitter
Translated screencaps of his Twifile from XeronTokyo:
The big detail is under his additional info: he worked on SMT5′s scenario but left Atlus midway through development (he uses the verb 退社, to resign from or leave a company) and thus was not credited in the staff roll. This also means that this Mobygames page for Yusuke Miyata conflates our former Atlus Miyata and the Platinum Games Yusuke Miyata.
For additional confirmation, I searched Miyata’s Twitter from early February 2016 (when the JP version of Apocalypse released) and sure enough, he was tweeting about the game and Tokyo Sabbath, aka the Okinawan steal of the century. So, it has to be him.
This finally explains how pieces of SMT5′s story seemed like Miyata’s work despite no credit. I’m very curious how he jumped from working on maps for MGS to scenario for SMT and also where he works now.
