Yuu: Okay, so you’re not Satan. Then you must be the Horned King collecting dead people for cauldron born. In that case, you’re gonna have to pay for each corpse you dig up, yo.
Malleus: I’m not the Horned King.
Yuu: An Incubus, then? If that’s the case I’m not technically involved with anyone yet--though I'm hopeful it'll happen soon--and I heard that having experience makes you hotter to others, so I might be able to attract Sleeping Beauty. So, if you wanna sex me up…
Malleus: Please stop talking.
mikayuu opening an orphanage HC. Yuu making pillow forts with the kids in the middle of the night. He reads them stories until Mika bursts into the room yelling "It's 4 am! You should all be sleeping!"
Yuu: HE FOUND US! QUICK: HIDE!
Then Mika has to play hide and seek with them, which always ends up in him finding Yuu, the only big ass adult who stands out, and taking him to their room for a lecture.
Yuu enters the kitchen with their drowsy cat-weasly, Grim, cradled in their arms. They ponder the idea of playing a game of cat and mouse. Yuu might be feeling frustrated about having to shoulder all the responsibilities at school without any compensation, which can be understandably irritating. However, it's important to remember that Yuu has had some close calls with the boys, and they tend to involve Yuu in their chaotic adventures.
One of the Scarabia students looked a bit nervous as they asked, "Vice Housewarden, will one tablespoon of spices be enough?" Jamil, in his usual composed manner, responded, "The Housewarden has a penchant for spiciness. Add another teaspoon." Just as Yuu was about to respond, Grim woke up and leaped out of their arms.
"What's going on in here? It's winter break, but the kitchen's full of students!" Grim exclaimed as he rubbed his eyes and added, "Henchman, I want my tuna." Yuu coughed and replied, "Later, Grim."
Yuu then turned to Jamil, offering a friendly smile that resembled Jade's. "And here we meet again. I believe the last time we saw each other was during the tournament." A subtle trace of disgust briefly crossed Jamil's face, but he quickly masked it and said, "Yes, we had a brief chat back when I got injured before the Spelldrive tournament. Your names were... Yuu and Grim, yes?"
"Dang, you've got quite the memory. Uh... What was your name again?" Grim inquired with wide-eyed curiosity as he gazed at Jamil. Yuu couldn't help but wonder if they could get Grim to model.
"It's Jamil. Jamil Viper, vice housewarden of Scarabia Dorm," Jamil replied calmly. "I make it a point to memorize people's names and faces. Not to mention, you two have made quite the names for yourselves since you first enrolled. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone at this school who doesn't know who you are or... what you can do," he continued, locking eyes with Yuu.
"Whoa... Really? Myah hah hah! Y'hear that, Yuu?! We're famous!" Grim exclaimed with excitement as he darted around Yuu's legs. Yuu let out a sigh before picking up the hyperactive cat. It was better to hold Grim now to prevent him from complaining about his tired paws later.
"At any rate... Why are you here on campus during winter break?" Jamil inquired, even as the rest of the Scarabia students handed him dishes to taste.
"We don't have anywhere to go home to for the holidays. Plus, the headmage personally gave us a super-special job. We're tending the fireplace. I'm as diligent and competent as they come! It only makes sense that the headmage would turn to me when he needs help!" Grim proudly proclaimed.
"Oh, is that a fact? The headmage personally asked you, you say..." Jamil mused, a subtle smirk playing on his lips as he whispered to himself, "This could be my chance..."
"Hm? Didn't catch that," Grim said as he looked at Jamil, then turned to Yuu. "Henchman, what did he say?"
Jamil quickly cleared his throat before saying, "I said that if the headmage is relying on you, you must be a tremendous talent indeed." He couldn't afford to miss this opportunity.
"Sorry to interrupt, Vice Housewarden, but I'm done prepping the vegetables," one of the Scarabia students interjected.
"Okay, I'll be right over," Jamil replied as he headed toward the stove, where a pot of water boiled.
"That soup you're making looks pretty good. I've never smelled anything like it before," Grim commented as he investigated the pot of soup.
"I can make you some when we get home," Yuu whispered into Grim's ear.
"Hehe, thanks, henchman!" Grim responded, burying his head in Yuu's neck.
"It's a traditional Scalding Sands recipe, you see—Wait. An idea occurs to me. I'm sure something brought us together. Would you care to join us for our meal?" Jamil suggested.
"Really?! You mean it?" Grim exclaimed as he hopped out of Yuu's arms onto the kitchen counter.
"Absolutely. It won't take much longer to finish. Why don't you two lend a hand?" Jamil proposed, looking over at Yuu. "If it's okay with you?"
Yuu sighed and replied, "As long as Grim washes his hands, he can do whatever he wants."
"Yay! Thanks, henchman!" Grim cheered as he darted over to the kitchen sink. Sometimes, Yuu felt like they had a young child instead of a cat-weasel. They wondered how Grim was doing these days.
"That should do it. All right, boys, get this to the dorm!" Jamil ordered as he lifted the pot off the stove. "Yes, sir!" the rest of the Scarabia students chorused in response.
"So, why are you guys staying on campus over winter break?" Grim inquired, holding onto one of Yuu's fingers. His question was met with a momentary silence, followed by a hesitant "well" from Jamil.
"My apologies. Grim tends to have a hard time reading the room. If any of you are uncomfortable with the question, it's perfectly fine not to answer," Yuu quickly interjected.
"Well, it's something we brought on ourselves, I suppose. Now, let's get this food back to the dorm before it gets cold. Scarabia's got the warmth of summer year-round. I think you'll enjoy a taste of the tropics there," Jamil said, flashing a fake smile that hinted at his involvement in their plans.
"Woo-hoo! Now that's what I call paradise! C'mon, Yuu!" Grim cheered, pulling Yuu along.
"Grim, nothing on this campus comes without a catch," Yuu cautioned. But before they could voice their concerns further, Grim had already dragged them along to follow Jamil.
Grim's excitement was palpable as he hopped off the fountain and onto the sun-baked ground of Scarabia Dorm. The architecture was a stunning blend of Arabian influence, with intricate designs, ornate archways, and vibrant mosaic patterns adorning the building's exterior. The walls glistened with warm earth tones, mirroring the desert sands of the Scalding Sands region, while the whole place exuded a feeling of timeless grandeur.
Palm trees swayed gently in the breeze, casting welcome patches of shade across the courtyard. The sound of running water from nearby fountains added to the serene atmosphere, creating a sense of oasis in the heart of the campus.
Grim's suggestion about getting a pool for Ramshackle, their own dorm, was met with a chuckle from Yuu. "You might be onto something there, Grim," Yuu said with a smile. "Scarabia Dorm sure knows how to create a little slice of paradise right here in the middle of winter."
As they explored the dorm's unique and enchanting architecture, it became clear that Scarabia Dorm was a place where tradition met modernity, making it a fitting home for Jamil and his fellow students.
Grim couldn't contain his enthusiasm as they explored the magnificent Scarabia Dorm. He hopped onto the back of Yuu, still marveling at the Arabian-inspired architecture. The intricate designs seemed to tell stories of ancient desert cultures, and the vibrant colors added to the dorm's enchanting atmosphere.
As they followed Jamil further into the dorm, they arrived at the lounge area.
"Boys, we have guests! Play some music to make them feel at home," Jamil instructed, and the Scarabia students began to play lively music, creating a festive atmosphere.
Grim chuckled as he settled next to Jamil. "Myah hah hah! When you get as famous as us, I guess people fall all over themselves to get in your good graces."
Jamil smiled in response. "Please, go on. Eat up while it's hot." He handed Grim and Yuu bowls of soup.
As Yuu took a spoonful, they heard the comforting voice of their mother in their head, advising caution. "It's not poison," Yuu reassured themselves mentally. "And even if it is, I believe all the time I spend eating and drinking poison would help keep me alive."
"Don't mind if I do! Awmph! Mmm, this is good stuff! It's got a rich flavor, with a powerful kick of heat... This veggie stir-fry with crunchy nuts is great. Oh, and so are these fried dough ball things!" Grim exclaimed as he devoured the food with enthusiasm. Yuu quickly grabbed a napkin and gently wiped Grim's face, making sure no food stained his bowtie.
"We have meat dishes and soup as well. Please, help yourselves; there's more where that came from," Jamil offered, gesturing to the array of dishes on the table. The warm and inviting atmosphere of Scarabia Dorm made Yuu and Grim feel right at home, despite being far from their own dorm.
"Nom... Nom nom... Y'know, with a veritable buffet like this in front of us, this really IS paradise!" Grim exclaimed, his enthusiasm undiminished by the delectable feast before him. It was ironic because back at Ramshackle, a similar buffet appeared daily for every meal, thanks to the shadow's culinary prowess.
However, their joyful gathering was interrupted by the arrival of none other than Kalim, who questioned the unexpected company. Yuu turned to see the housewarden of Scarabia approaching. Jamil quickly stood and attempted to explain the situation.
"Uh, this guy seems like bad news..." Grim whispered to Yuu, who sighed and replied, "Let's give him a chance."
Kalim expressed his disappointment at not being informed ahead of time and playfully scolded Jamil for not arranging a grander reception. Grim appeared utterly confused by Kalim's dramatic pause.
"Hiya! Welcome to our dorm. Sorry for not throwing you a welcoming parade! I'm Kalim Al-Asim, housewarden of Scarabia. This is the first time we've met, right?" Kalim greeted them with an infectious smile as he shook Yuu's hand vigorously.
Jamil interjected, "It's not, actually. Grim burned your posterior at orientation, and you spoke with them before the Spelldrive tournament as well. And you know Yuu."
"Oh! You're Yuu! It's really nice to meet you," Kalim exclaimed, shaking Yuu's shoulder back and forth with his enthusiasm. "I've heard from Cater and Lilia that you have a really good voice! That, and the rumors about what you can do. Is it true that you can..."
Kalim was pulled away from Yuu by Jamil, who tactfully intervened with, "Please, Kalim, you're asking them so many questions. I'm sure they would be happy to sing for you instead of answering your endless questions."
"Really! Can you sing for me?" Kalim's eyes widened with eager anticipation as he looked at Yuu. His enthusiasm was undeniable, and it left Yuu wondering how this vibrant character had made it into the school. He wore his heart on his sleeve, making him an open book for all to see. Jafer's whispered comment about him reminded Yuu of someone else they knew, and they couldn't help but laugh.
"Sure, I've got nothing better to do," Yuu responded with a good-natured grin.
In the blink of an eye, Yuu was transformed, now clad in new clothes and standing on a stage with a microphone. A band sat behind them, ready to accompany their performance. Yuu couldn't help but sigh at the sudden turn of events, but they were ready to entertain their new friends at Scarabia Dorm.
