Victor stood in the throne room beside his father’s throne. It was the day his future bride was arriving and he found himself strangely torn on the whole thing. He had heard stories about the Princess’s beauty, he knew their marriage would create the alliance their father’s needed for stronger Kingdoms, and he knew that she had strong genes and would likely be a very fine match. But it was still forced.
Victor was an Alpha in every since of the word. He was tall and fit, though somewhat skinnier than most Alphas, he was no less strong. He had broad shoulders and thick thighs from a life spent wielding swords and riding horses. His family were known for their Alphas and had ruled their people for many generations with fair and just law.
It made sense for him to marry a beautiful Omega Princess from a neighboring Kingdom. It was what everyone expected and wanted. But he couldn’t help the seed of doubt sewn into his head by his own parents arranged marriage. His father was the epitome of Alpha; strong, tall, large and loud--a natural leader. His mother was the perfect specimen of an Omega; petite, gentle and graceful--the perfect mate to calm and quell an Alpha.
And their entire marriage had been disastrous. They hardly spoke to each other about anything, never spent time together. His father had a string of mistresses and his mother often fled to the country for her “healthy”. He had never really known either of them until he turned 10 and his father had taken him under his wing to train and teach.
He sighed softly, trying to keep his mind from wandering as the doors to the throne room flew open and the loud booming voice announced:
“His Royal Highness King Toshiya and Queen Hiroko!”
Victor watched as they strode into the room, regal and proud. His father and Mother both rose from their seats and greeted the visiting Royals as equals before they all four took seats; his parents in their regular thrones and the visitors in the thrones beside.
His breath hitched. This was it.
“Her Highness the Princess Yuuri.”
