chanhee had a habit of popping his knuckles. this habit was made from a few reasons. one of the reasons was the feeling of having ones fingers being popped was quite relaxing. the next reason was that even though many others hated the sound of bones cracking, he on the other hand enjoyed the sound of it. many people told him not to pop his knuckles so much since it was the cause of arthritis, however he thinks otherwise.

and so he did; the male popped his knuckles out of habit before rubbing his palms together due to the coldness. upon hearing her voice, the male turned his head and looked at her as he heard her suggestion. he was glad that the female had noticed how cold it was however, he knows if he took her offer he’d be in trouble. shaking his head a bit, he gave her a smile before speaking. “thank you for the offer but it’s ohkae. it’s not that cold” nodding his head soon after he slipped both his hands in his jacket pockets and looked around. “you look like you’re about to freeze though. do you wanna go eat or drink something warm?”

( 6v6 ` — ) it’s a lesson a person of such youth should never have to learn; just how heavy such emptiness, gaping and raw, can feel as it travels through his chest, wraps icy fingers around his heart. it’s demanding, screaming for him to feel every ounce of loneliness that lingers in the still air of the shared bedroom, empty with the exception of the young boy, whose thoughts linger on the friends and family that he cannot see, the comfort of his mother’s voice, soft with a tender affection, and his bother’s hands, always firm and reassuring as they would rest on his shoulders, that he cannot have.

his breaths come unevenly, obstructed by the knot that has formed within his throat. the mass is fed by the tears that burn hot within his eyes, and as arms circle around his knees, drawn to meet his chest in search of any source of consolation to appease this feeling, a sob sounds out into the once silent space.

at the tender age fourteen years old, he has never felt so alone.

his eyes are rimmed with scarlet, squeezed shut as moisture is expelled from his tear ducts. they should be bright with hope for the future, optimism towards his successful debut, and he should not be falling apart in the farthest corner of his bunk, cheeks left damp in the process and nose raw as a hand once again raises to rub away the droplets that fall. yet, here he is. he is defying the odds, and he feels ungrateful for not being able to enjoy the place within shinee that has been bestowed upon him, for crying when he should be the happiest boy alive.

he misses his mother and father, and his best friend, whom he hasn’t seen in months. but, this is the life he has chosen, the career he decided to throw everything else away for. he has made his decision, and even with this ache in chest, he must continue to push forward.

Jinki could only drag his rough palm over his face. Her words rang true, of course. There was no disputing them, especially since his husband was long gone. He couldn’t even look her in the eyes. “I know this, but that doesn’t mean you have any place to say anything about it.” His smile was dry as he finally lifted his head to look at her, his own eyes void of any humor. “He might still come back, so don’t...don’t mention this again, do you understand me?” His smile fell and his face was oddly serious. Many people had said that his emotionless face was the scariest of all, the most intimidating because you never knew what he was truly thinking in that moment. She got a full view of the same face in that moment, but Jinki didn’t care. He took a step back and smoothed out his white doctor’s coat before he shoved his hands in the pockets. “Good day.”

“-- it’s not the safest place to stay around , being this beautiful.” It comes too dry for a compliment as Jay scans the female’s features, clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth. Naturally a cigarette is twisted between his fingers as he takes few steps forward to the girl. “-- It’s late. Go home.” It’s a tone along the lines of a warning and the stern, serious stare following those words reveal the seriousness of the situation. Glancing over shoulder, Jay notices a familiar figure approaching and he can only nudge the woman forward. He doesn’t even know her but he doesn’t need witnesses, neither victims. “-- I said go.”
