The Kenner Y-Wing Fighter was one of my favorite vehicles as it allowed you to put an Artoo (or Arfive!) into the designated Astromech droid slot and thus allowed you to fly two figures in one ship (I always valued it when my figures could have some company on long flights). It had a bomb to drop and the landing gear mechanism was quite clever. The extra turret gun wasn’t bad either. Unfortunately it came way too late in a time when Star Wars was already done and my interest for action figures and toys was fading. This here in the pictures is the TVC model, which actually uses the exact same mold as the original Kenner model and mainly differs in color, cockpit details, and the lack of the battery driven turret gun (I don’t even remember that! Could it be that there were versions out there without this feature?). In comparison to the other TVC ships, the Y-Wing fighter is a bit lame for exactly that reason: being a reissue of the vintage toy with no major modifications. On the other hand it was a great toy then already and your rebel fleet isn’t complete without the Y-Wing. It would have been nice to see an upgrade to the Y-Wing similar to what they did for the X-Wing but then again there’s the Clone Wars Y-Wing which brings a lot of other interesting features to the table. #starwars #thevintagecollection #ywing #ywingbomber #ywingfighter #wheresadmiralackbar #kenner #starwarstoys https://www.instagram.com/p/B0PGDj5gDx4/?igshid=13dteqosn617i
