taking afternoon naps was normal for jinsang, especially when he’d had an early morning and he had to work for a couple hours. people were exhausting. asking him where items were. asking him for change. asking him to serve them. his grandmother insisted that that was what he was being paid for as a cashier at the general store -- and yet still, it was exhausting to deal with. sometimes they had the stupidest questions and it took an immense amount of effort not to simply give in to the impulse to curse at them. he’d already been given a warning once for that. if there weren’t customers, it was boring to stand there and wait for customers. jinsang hated his job; he only continued to drag himself there against his will was for the money to buy joja cola.
but some days, even the caffeine wasn't enough to get him through the day.
jinsang has his arms tucked under his head, stirring at the feeling of someone else around him and crinkling his nose. there was a dry crack in his voice when he parted his lips to groan in annoyance. “i already did my shift,” he complained, nose crinkled across the bridge and squeezing his eyes shut to whoever was out there. they could have been a robber or a murderer, but that would have been far to exciting for a small town like yangwon to have. there was a twist of his body, rolling over onto his stomach and squinting his eyes open to notice a hand first, then the familiar strange looking rocks that he was certain were left by aliens trying to communicate with him. it might have been a slight disappointment when he followed the hand up to the human boys face.
“what are you doing with my alien communicator?”
