Un francez intră într-un bar. Pe umăr are un papagal. Barmanul exclamă: - Cât de tare de unde îl ai? - Din Franța. E plin acolo de tipi din ăștia, răspunde papagalul.

Într-o cameră întunecat... un om de știință caută ceva, filosoful caută ceva ce nu există, credinciosul găsește ceva ce nu există.

Sătul să-i mai vadă pe oameni că se închină la un copac, un bărbat scos din sărite de asemenea idolatrie pune mâna pe topor și pleacă la drum: - Unde te duci? îl oprește diavolul. - Să tai copacul acela, răspunde bărbatul. - Nu mai bine nu-l tai și în schimb îți dau zilnic câte doi galbeni? îi propune diavolul. Bărbatul se tocmește, ia banii și se duce acasă. A doua zi pornește la drum cu același gând. - Unde pleci? îl oprește iar diavolul. - Să tai copacul, nu mai vreau banii! - O, ba nu-l vei tăia niciodată, răspunse diavolul - a fost suficient doar o dată să te plătesc ca să capăt putere asupra ta.
