HGUC MSM-07E Z'Gok-E
(I graduated college like a year and a half ago and I haven't typed out any essays in a long time. I miss doing essays.)
The Z'Gok-E is my 2nd HG model that I bought and built.
Something I have learned from building 18 models (5 more that aren't built yet) is just because a Mobile Suit has a model kit that doesn't mean it will translates well from 2D to 3D. The Z'Gok-E while it does look good as a model that was easy to easy build it has a major flaw. Those arms were frustrating to put together because how they are built.
Also this is one of the models I recommend not believing in the promo images if you want an example of it complete please find examples of it somewhere else. And do this with every model kit you want to buy. The big photo of it on the manual or on the sides of the box sometimes has the wrong color scheme. Examples being the Gundam Gremory and the Rozen Zulu.
Different from other models where you build small joint pieces and attach armor to them the Z'Gok-E has a long tube piece where you put three of the circular arm pieces over it. Than attach it to the shoulder joint and press it against the ball joint connecting with the torso. The issue with this is that it won't be able to hold its own arms up limiting its articulation and since it's so weak both arms can just completely fall apart making the builder have to reassemble it. My experience I've had to rebuild the arms so many times that I just gave up on it and just put it back in the box. While this kit is an older one I don't want to discourage people from buying older model kits.
Not to say that there aren't any fixes for the willing builder superglue could probably help and I've seen some post about 3D printing pieces to fix the arm issue. However, your average builder probably doesn't have a 3D printer or be willing to fix it. Personally just keep it in a simple standing pose if you want it out in display.
I've seen many post about how dumb it is to rank model kits so I just go with the good old question "Do I regret my purchase?"
Do I regret my purchase? Yeah I do. While the design is cool I bought this at USAGundam so including shipping it was $25.73 and around that price range there are many different models that are way better before and after its 2003 release. The arms to me are a big deal breaker but if I had to give it a rating its like a 2/5.

The Z'Gok E was intended to be a test unit improved on the standard MSM-07 Z'Gok. Its data was later used to develop the MSM-07S Z'Gok Commander Type. The Z'Gok-E's propellant storage were moved into tanks mounted inside the arms, allowing it to store up power from the generator and perform a rapid-fire from its hand beam cannon. It also replaced the head-mounted missile launcher with torpedo tubes for additional firepower when operating underwater.
To allow for better mobility underwater, structurally redesigned joints and other parts were introduced. The arm units can be withdrawn to assume a streamlined form for improved underwater cruising. The mobile suit would also include a standardized cockpit with the introduction of the United Maintenance Plan. It was powered by an improved generator which gave the Z'Gok-E ample performance.
