me, finally starting covav: so do you think tomi adayemi's realised how much chemistry amari and zelie had in the first book yet, whether intended or not? tomi: orïsha waits for no one. not even the girl i love me: *screaming*
[photo of the Spiderman meme where two Spiderman’s are standing across from each other and pointing at each other]
Same exact thought process, anon! Tomi is not making it easy on the shippers at all by writing them as she is and not putting them together. Dx
rereading cobab before i start the second book and zelie? gay.
“[Amari] smiles and I get a glimpse of why it was so hard for Tzain to look away” (125)
this is a slow burn enemy to lovers you cannot tell me otherwise
the only valid ship in cobab
rose + amaya/zari
Zari noses Amaya’s door open with the toe of her boot, poking her head into the room. “Knock, knock,” she drawls, spotting Amaya sitting at a small, dark wood desk in the corner of the room. “Thought I’d come bother you in your room for once, since you’re always bugging me in mine.”
Amaya offers her a smile, gesturing toward the space. “It’s always open, Zari,” she says warmly.
Zari looks at her without comment. Sometimes she still can’t figure these people out. Everyone is so…warm and friendly. Maybe not always Ray levels of friendly but friendly…friendlier than she’s ever been used to in her life. She’s still waiting for the other shoe to drop, waiting for Amaya and the rest of them to realize that she doesn’t really belong here.
Rather than point any of this out to Amaya, Zari just steps into the room, studying the place. It’s sparse and painfully well organized -everything in its place, right down to the shoes lined up against the wall and books organized by height. “No wonder you always come hang out with me,” she remarks. “It’s so boring in here.”
Amaya lifts an eyebrow. “What do you mean?” She asks. “It’s a perfectly normal room.”
“Right,” Zari says with a shrug, “if you live in some sort of drab, boring castle.” She glances back at Amaya. “You got an enchanted rose around here somewhere?” She laughs at her own joke.
Amaya smiles slightly, like she wants to laugh but isn’t sure exactly what she’s supposed to be laughing at. “Enchanted rose?”
Zari smirks. “You know…’cause you’re a beast.” She points at Amaya’s neck and the totem resting there. “Because of the…” She trails off when it becomes clear Amaya has no idea what she’s talking about. “Beauty and the Beast, you know…? ‘When the last petal falls you’ll be doomed to remain a beast forever?’“
“I’m sorry,” Amaya says, a smile still slightly on her face. “I’m not following.”
Zari bumps her forehead with the heel of her hand. “Duh, you haven’t seen any of the good movies.” She looks at Amaya, pity on her face. “My brother and I watched it all the time when we were kids. Enchanted castle, angry beast, secret spells…kinda like home, kinda not. It was perfect.”
Zari hurries forward, grabbing Amaya’s hand and pulling her to her feet. “Come on. I’ll have Gideon find it for us. It’s movie night.”
Amaya holds tightly to her hand, allowing herself to be pulled out of her room and toward the common area. She doesn’t let go of her hand even as they settle down on the couch and it doesn’t occur to Zari to tug hers free either.
Amari in a bunch of things that aren't her armor. Top is just Amari in a bra, smoking special fire breather cigarettes on some downtime. All the addictive properties of smoking without that disgusting tar coating ur lungs. Bottom left is what Amari wears under her Armor. It's a black and white clerical outfit. It's been rolled down to her hips in this picture and tied off in the front like you would with a jacket that was too warm. She binds her chest as much as she can while still being able to breathe since she can't really fit those things in her armor otherwise lmbo Bottom right is currently in campaign Amari's only casual outfit. Which is actually a mixture of a bunch of different outfits that she combined to make one very nice one. It's heavily synonymous with a type of peasant clothing, but you really wouldn't be able to tell because of the way she put it together. She looks quite good in it I think.
I love her so much-
----Z 1/19/19 I meant to only color the top one It was more a test if anything to play with my markers. I think if I want to color her skin, I need some darker colors for her hair tbh
Amari Thornbrush but done in pen and prismacolor greys cause I very much love this awkward dorkazoid Did I tell you guys the first time she showed up in campaign she rolled a natural 1 in a goblin fight and fell on her face in front of everyone I stand by this being the most in character roll of the entire campaign so far besides the time she rolled a 20 on a constitution check for spicy food and ate the whole thing happily while several others were rolling on the floor crying and breathing fire -----Z 9/3/18
Watch out evil
Amari's coming for you. This is a fun pose that didn't come out fantastic but is okay enough I suppose. I actually 100% gave up on this for like straight months. I think I got bored one day and decided to finish it. ----Z 11/4/18
