She was thankful to find it dark outside when she arrived, for this planet’s sun was such a glaring nuisance. It was moonlight, then, that touched the surface of the surrounding leaves and fell lightly upon feather and fur alike. A pale hand reached out, curling around the stem of a plant. She admired the way it withered, quick as one shivering breath. A rabbit watched from the cover of overgrown bushes, and her fingers found its forehead, stroking gently. It hadn’t even made to bolt, sitting entranced at her light movements.
She left behind its corpse in search of something stronger, not feeling even close to sated. Nearby she sensed it, a powerful energy, one that would give her strength anew on this world so far from home (or perhaps it would prove to be a useful servant). Either way, it would do no good to expose herself carelessly, and so she released her own energy as a beacon. Settling in the still waters of a nearby lake, she waited...
