what if thomas seine aka tom zane in room 665 is the "real" tom zane, the one who cut out dark barb's heart and then fucked off to a baby universe where they could be happy together? or, maybe in his universe, he isn't that zane at all?

what if that hasn't happened yet as of aw2 because linear time means fucking nothing in the dark place? or maybe it has! maybe there are as many tom zanes as there are universes, and sometimes he's a poet, or a diver, or a filmmaker, and some have had certain experiences and some have not, or have yet to, or maybe even never will. who's to say?

i wish we knew more about the real jakala who drowned in the lake, like the specifics of her role as tom's muse. did she help him refine his art as the house of dreams poems sometimes suggest? did she, perhaps, help put them through iterations, help stress-test his concepts, within the bounds of which he could wildly improvise?

it would help a couple looking to achieve their goal of crafting a baby universe if someone had a good grasp of the theoretical underpinnings behind the cosmology of it all, a well-developed interpretation of many worlds. wouldn't it?

(i imagine it might also help if you could somehow have a master of many worlds in your back pocket for that.)

funny thing about the existence of infinitely many worlds is that it implies the existence of infinitely many permutations of people, roles, archetypes, story beats. maybe in one world you lose your darling to the lake while she's diving for the treasure you spoke of and you have to make a world where you can rest, or be together, or at least start over. maybe there are other worlds where the skeleton of events and people involved are very similar; it's just the flesh that looks a little different.
