I just wanted to throw out a quick message on this blog.  

A lot of cottage core represents a desire to “escape” from the capitalistic society many americans, and I speak as an american, find themselves in. There are some issues with that.None of us can “escape” from capitalism.  At the end, we have to admit that if we are to say “there is no ethical consumption under capitalism,” it includes everything, even the things that seem “handmade.”  I think that wanting to “escape” comes from a lot of different places, but first and foremost, there is nothing any of us can do to really separate ourselves from the suffering of others.  We cannot ‘”escape” the exploitation of the working class, who will continue to suffer for the things we demand out of them in the country.

It is crucial to acknowledge that the land we live on comes from Native Americans, and any ownership of the land on this continent comes from their direct exploitation.  When we go after this fantasy of “escape” it is blatantly clear that when its convienent people “forget” about native oppression for their own benefit. Cottagecore, from what I have seen, never directly says it, but it strongly implies that the fantasy land we would be inhabiting is largely... empty.  The truth is, that this narrative of finding and maintaining empty land is the history of the american colonization of this continent. The land is not, nor has never been empty - thats a racist myth.

I am not a native american, however I am a woman of color who comes from a country that has been colonized.  I don’t want to participate in the racist legacy that is manifest destiny and colonization.  So from here on out, I’m going to largely switch this blog from cottagecore-ish posts to largely solarpunk. In my understanding, solarpunk leans into some aspects I am very interested in, like sustainability!

I know Dx It’s kinda my fault because I don’t know how to edit themes to save my life so I just left it that way. I’ve been thinking about trying to fix it for the read mores at least because initially I didn’t even want captions on pictures, but high lighting it works <:) it’s just too much work I knowand thank you omg <333 :D
