Trick-or-treat!
I have an absolutely raging headache today but reading about you thinking about borodred makes it temporarily ease aksjfjs
I am so deeply sorry for your headache, here have a poem by Laurence Binyon for no particular reason;
Dawn like a thousand shining spears Terrible in the east appears; Hide me, you leaves of lovely gloom Where the young dreams like lilies bloom.
In vain I turn aside to where Stars made a palace of the air; In vain I hide my face away From the too bright invading day.
That which is come requires of me My utter truth and mystery. Return, you dreams, return to night, My lover is the armed light.
Hi! Have you ever cross bred any succs or tried to make any hybrids or anything like that? I’ve got some echeverias that I think will be flowering at the same time so I’m really curious as to what’ll happen (if anything) if I try lol
I have not tried! I mean i’ve used a little brush to try to pollinate some but nothing came of it at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ok forgive me if you’ve answered this already but I was wondering, since corrupting auras are a thing in lotr, how much of faramirs assholeness could be attributed to being stationed so close to Mordor for so long vs how much is attributable to inherent assholeness? Relatedly if that corrupting aura/influence is there and that strong what does it mean for after Sauron is defeated, not just for him but all of gondor (and even for boromir and Denethor assuming for hahas that they lived)?
We were JUST discussing this on the reading stream BUT in fact ‘corrupting auras’ in terms of personality are not a thing unless we’re talking about the ring, and even then it’s very debatable how much actual longterm change and control the ring can exert all on it’s own.
Theoden wasn’t possessed or corrupted in the books, he was just a sick and weary and depressed old man who made bad decisions and would rather ignore the issues his son, nephew and niece brought to his door rather than deal with them.
Denethor wasn’t corrupted by the Palantir, he was just tired out by dead eyeing Sauron every day, his eventual break was both entirely driven by the real world undeniable events happening around him and pretty fair assumptions of their impending doom and death, and a very understandable and rational reaction to all of them.
The enemy can only really effect you two ways, either #1 very brief and sudden pushes like making you run in fear or forcing you to put on the ring, that wear off quickly, or #2 offering you something real that you actually want for logical reasons and then drawing you ever deeper into that web of your own making.
Now there is something to be said for the fact that Faramir was around the ring for a while, so if it effects people in a latent way then it’s possible that decisions he made (like resisting going to try and retake Osgiliath) would have been different if he hadn’t encountered the ring. But from the relationship he has with his dad, these issues are obviously pretty consistent and known and built between them, so they can’t have been all ring inspired.
Sorry Kim :’) It’s all him. And, you know. the depressing and frantic and desperate situation they’re all in but, they’re all in it, so.
Erran I think you know this I hope but it bears repeating that I could read your takes on the stewards and the house of eorl literally aaallll day long lol anyway hope you have a lovely day!!
This is very good because I would force you all to read such takes, even if you didn’t want too. It’s definitely better you have fun.
Hi! So I recently got two new plants I’m not really familiar with. Is there anything in particular I should know about silver coral plants and Sansevieria boncellensis? I’m basically treating them as I would my other succs but I’d hate to make a mistake an kill them :( thank you!
Those aren’t plants that need anything special as far as I’m aware! Standard succulent care should work :)
One of your reblogs prompted me to google firestorm sedum as it looks a lot like one of my coppertone sedums (seda?) but not the other, and now I am quite confused lol are coppertone sedum and Firestone sedum two different plants? That would make sense as to why the two I have look slightly different from each other... even though I always assumed they were the same species haha
Coppertone Sedum is most likely a Sedum nussbaumerianum, which is a different plant from a Sedum ‘Firestorm’, they’re very similar looking (some people just wanna squish them together under Sedum adolphi because of how similar they are)! They’re both still Sedum and require the same care thankfully. So while differences like that are interesting it’s not super important as long as you’re happy with your plants :)
Hi! What level of sunlight should props get? Is direct light too harsh?
Direct light isn’t too harsh as long as they’re acclimated to it. Generally I do indirect light until they’re actually producing roots and then transition them slowly to stronger light, but that’s just what works best for me.
