Pumpkin Jack would be just a little possessive over you. Just little things, keeping you close when around others, sending a look to even Zardy when you're not around, "accidentally" nicking you somewhere the others would be able to see it, something that keeps his fears (fears? What fears? He doesn't have any of those!) at bay, things you don't mind or don't even notice.
It's when he and Zardy are both interested in you it comes into play. He's not just possessive, he can get downright competitive. It's all in good fun (you hope), and no hard feelings come of it (you can always kiss it better at the end of the day), but boy is it obvious to even you, as much as the scarecrows think they're hiding it.
Zardy gives you a flower? Enjoy your new bouquet!
Pumpkin Jack nuzzles against you before leaving, earning him one of your flustered giggles? Yeah, you're not gonna be alone for the rest of the day until the other manages to get the same, if not better, reaction out of you.
Sometimes they don't even bother hiding it or one-upping each other separately, preferring to just beckon you close to them so they can enjoy your warmth as you lay across both of them, Jack fiddling with your hair (very carefully, so he does not nick, so you don't move) as Zardy talks to you about his maze while generally just holding you, caressing your skin in an almost exploratory manner. (They don't mention it much, but there is something so interesting about the softness of human skin, unwounded and not shredded like how intruders to the maze usually end up. It's different this way. You have an almost constant warmth in your body, and you are alive, and you are all the parts they like about you because they love you, even if they don't always say it. (But when they do, it becomes a counter, and you almost never stop hearing it until the day is over and whoever said it the most celebrates while the other slunks in disappointment. (You pepper them both with kisses to appease them, only being able to think about how stupid they are and how much you love them, because they're the kind of stupid only love can get you.)))
Honestly I just want to have some more Zardy's Maze stuff, maybe Poly? I just wanna cuddle and kiss the scarecrows, so fluffcanons please!
You ask for scarecrow fluff and I'm here to deliver 🦅🦅

Zardy and Pumpkin Jack were never really ones for sharing.
Hell, to this day they still have disputes over who gets what side of the corn maze.
But after you came along, respecting the crops and getting to personally know all the creatures who inhabited this place...they found themselves drawn to you.
You were never afraid of them.
In fact, you were willing to stay in the nearby house just so you could see them both more often (finding the key was...a pain, but well worth it).
After a few months, they're both completely smitten over you.
Jack tried beating Zardy to the punch in confessing to you.....but midjump he was blindsided by a flying Cablecrow and had to untangle himself from its wires.
By the time that was done, Zardy was already with you.
Long story short...you ended up falling for them both as you simply couldn't choose, and they surprisingly agree with this.
Being creatures stuffed with hay and straw makes them excellent pillows whenever you're cuddling/hugging them.
And they talk about their past, or the latest stupid thing some trespasser or Brute/Rattler/Cablecrow did, or what they wanted to do for Halloween.
However, something maaay have to be done about Pumpkin Jack's claws if you're gonna cuddle with him alone.
He insists they're for your protection (or if he needs to answer the call of a crawler who was attacked).
Zardy just shakes his head and urges him to move aside so there's room for him, too.
Of course, repairing them becomes a skill you learned rather quickly during your time in the maze.
But after fixing them up, you always leave kisses on the newest patch you've added to their bodies.
Jack just grins and giggles, kicking his feet and everything.
Meanwhile Zardy hides behind his hat, wishing he could go invisible.
Don't get him wrong, though, he loves your affections just the same.
ooooo hi! If requests are open may I request some Zardy x reader general headcannons? Thanks!
yep, they are! and of course! i’m super happy my first request is for Zardy omg /gen
~Zardy x Reader General Headcannons!~
I believe it would take a while to get into any sort of romantic relationship with Zardy. It would be built upon trust, and of course, would have to be able to tolerate you enough to even be to this point, which isn’t always as easy as it seems.
be assured, though, if you do get into a relationship with him, he absolutely loves you to smithereens! but, not always does he really know how to show it, but he tries.
speaking of ; most things, at least at first, you would have to initiate or lead. he’s a bit clueless, honestly - but it’s expected, as he probably never had anyone else to talk much to other than the sometimes annoying group he sees as siblings, at most in a few years. some things he will initiate himself though, and he’s also a fast learner.
he’s often out walking around the corn maze to make sure no intruders come in, so sometimes you two don’t have enough alone time. but, you’re never lonely - if its not one of the others, a few pumpkin crawlers are often with you when Zardy isn’t! whether he told them to, at least in the beginning, is up for debate.
most often he wouldn’t let you accompany him while guarding his maze, though, he wouldn’t want you hurt if anything did get in.
speaking of, he is also quite protective, but not too much, at least later in the relationship it isn’t too bad. he trusts you with his ‘siblings’, but doesn’t want you to be hurt, so he’ll often watch you when you’re wandering the corn maze without him. well, he’s there, but i mean when you aren’t walking with him. he’ll stop if you ask, but he’ll always be worried.
Zardy probably never leaves the maze at all. I don’t think he even can leave, but if you figure out how to get him out - take him out somewhere! he won’t know most of the places you two are going, and probably not too excited about it at first, but he’ll have fun. just make sure it isn’t anywhere with people who would be questioning his appearance or asking cosplay-related questions. it’ll irritate him, and god forbid someone causes a scene.
Pumpkin Jack likes to annoy the hell out of you, but in the goofy little brother sort of way.. or he’s just a menace. however you want to perceive him. but, he’ll probably both tease you and Zardy about you two’s relationship, but also insist on third wheeling most things you two do.
the others are pretty nice though! it’s much like a family, between them all, and they’ve seemed to welcome you. after all, if you’ve been there long enough for Zardy to warm up to you so much - the rest probably have as well.
I hope that’s good and i did Zardy justice on this one! ^^
Hey there! Could I have some Yandere!Zardy X Male!Reader? Thanks!
oooooh, sure! I decided to go for a shortfic for this one, I really liked writing it! I hope you like it! - Mod Syrup
That Creepy Scarecrow (A Yandere!Zardy x Male!Reader shortfic)
"So, you're telling me that all I have to do is tend to the field and I'll be paid how much?"
You wanted to question why the owner of this farm didn't want to take care of the cornfield himself, but with how much he was paying you, you didn't want to turn it down, so you just kept your mouth shut and got to work, the only thing that threw you off was the rule that the owner gave you, about getting out of the maze before it gets too dark, and how much the urged you to not stay out there too late, but hey, they probably just didn't want you getting lost. Regardless, you needed the money, and you've done harder work than this before, what could go wrong.
At least that's what you thought until you saw that creepy ass scarecrow. Of course, scarecrows were supposed to be creepy, but you couldn't help but feel a shiver run down your spine when you looked at it. The scarecrow appeared to be dressed in all black, with brown gloves and a burlap sack for a head, topped off with a black witch hat, two yellow eyes neatly painted on, and even though you knew for a fact that it wasn't alive, you felt as if it was somehow looking back at you, staring you right in the eyes.
But You couldn't let that get in the way of your work, you didn't have much anyway, you just needed to take care of any weeds, harvest any corn that was ready to be harvested, and spray any pesticide around places that look like may have an infestation. Ok, maybe that would be a lot more work than it sounds like, but you had a small garden at home, so you were somewhat used to this kind of work.
As you continued to work all day, you couldn't help but feel like you were being watched, like a pair of unearthly eyes were locked on you, tracking your every move, and it didn't help that whenever you looked back at the scarecrow, it was somehow always turned to look directly at you. Every time you saw its eyes on you, it made your stomach churn, it even looked like it was getting closer, but, no it couldn't be, right? It must just be your mind playing tricks on you.
It had finally reached sunset when you had finished working, wiping sweat off your brow as you let out a sigh, turning to find your way out of the maze. It was surprisingly easy to find your way through the maze in the dark, so that only confused you as to why the owner was so urgent about you getting out before that. That is, until you heard footsteps and something being dragged close behind you. You quickly turned around to look, but the noise suddenly stopped right as you turned in its direction, leaving nothing but silence in the air.
You shook your head and continued your way out of the maze, this little routine would happen on repeat, you'd hear weird noises behind you, but once you checked, it would stop, and you'd continue your way out of the maze. It came to the point of which you stopped checking behind you and just started walking faster, trying to get out of the maze and convince yourself you were just hearing things.
That changed as you left the maze though. As you finally stepped out of the maze, you felt something swing past your head, missing it by near centimeters. You fell to the ground in shock and turned to look at your attacker, being met with the same goddamn scarecrow that had been watching you the entire time. In its hand, it held a metal hoe that was dug into the ground slightly, and it seemed to sway slightly as it stared at you, eyes locked with yours. You expected it to try and strict you down again, or at least wander back into the maze and go back to begin a normal scarecrow, but no it just stood there, it the exit of the maze, staring down at you, not even blinking, granted it didn't really need to blink, did it?
Eventually, you stood up and backed away from it, not removing your eyes from it for a moment as you moved back towards the owners house, You thought maybe it could be one of those "Can't move when being looked at" Things? It seemed to be working right now. You turned back around once you felt you were at a safe distance and rushed back to meet the owner, much to their relief.
You were happy to take the money and never go back, relieved that you'd never have to see the scarecrow again, you could barely sleep that night, you felt like it wasn't real, it couldn't have been real, right? This must be some weirdly vivid dream, or maybe you had been working so much that day that the heat was starting to get to you.
That is until you woke the next morning and peaked out your window at your backyard, your heart sinking. Your face was nearly pressed against the glass of the window, trying to convince yourself you weren't actually seeing what you were seeing.
It was the god damn scarecrow, but now propped up above your own garden, and even though its head was slumped down and the brim of its hat was just barely covering its eyes, you knew for a fact that it was looking right at you, just like how you were looking at it.
Hi! I was wondering if I could request a Zardy x monochromatic reader? All I own is yellow and I'm head over heels for this scarecrow, I could send a reference sheet of my persona if you'd like! 💛
Unrelated but I love your pfp! I wish I didn't get to this so late :( But you got it!

Short Headcannons!
- He REALLY loves it! Especially since your color is yellow, it’s is what he calls “spooky”
-Expect for him to buy you custom Halloween outfits that are DECKED out in your color.he expects you to wear the outfits he got you all year, so what?
- If you suggest matching he blushes but obliges, pretending he doesn’t care (he does)
- “Wh… Whatever! I suppose I could switch up my outfits every once in a while… but it better not be one of those mushy gushy human things!”
- He does find your obsession with yellow strange at times though.
- “How did you even manage to get shoes in full yellow?” Do you really wanna know?”
- He went to the store with you once… never again.
- “I think I’m going to pass out from all the shopping bags I’m holding, Y/N, dear, can we please at least take a break?” “Oh fine you big baby- Wait! Is that f/s?!!! OH MY GOD BAE THEY GOT A NEW YELLOW SET!”

Author: Sorry it’s so short, I haven’t written for zardy before 😭 But! This was fun and I hope you enjoy!
Post writing note: ignore the last post of this that I deleted, I realized 1: that I didn’t reply to the ask 2: that asker wanted persona and not reader 3: Spelling errors
Zardy had always shown indifference towards the lives of humans, viewing them as nothing more than annoying trespassers to get rid of. The addition of you to his maze, however, sparked something in him. He begun to have a growing, secret affinity towards human culture, what they like, what they do (how they show they care about each other). He suddenly longed to see what was out beyond the gate.
So when he realized you were occasionally, or even often sitting down and dragging a pencil around a piece of paper, he grew curious. He observed from a distance for a while, not wanting to make his interest known yet and just letting you do your human thing, but as days passed he couldn't deny there was something positively captivating about you as you drew, something luring him closer until one day he was close enough to point at a doodle and say “I enjoy that one.”
It was a simple sketch, something you'd just done as practice based on your surroundings. A cornstalk. It's not like Zardy has ever gotten the opportunity to be interested in art previously, to care about shading and rendering and how abstract a piece can be before someone will say “I could draw that.”—So it almost comes to no surprise to you that the one sketch he'd like on that page was one of a plant. And you've never been one to turn down a compliment, so you begun to draw more. Practicing how to shade petals, drawing after various flowers you could find, all of which seemed to please the scarecrow.
One day you'd tried to draw him, and while he'd almost seemed flattered at the sight (something you took great pride in, as he's typically the one to flatter you), he pointed at a buttercup sketch on the other page and told you outright “You should draw more of this, you do it very well.” before nuzzling your hair and moving on to tend to his maze.
When he's not being a workaholic, he'll let you sit in his lap and draw, watching appraisingly if you're drawing any form of flora, but otherwise doing his own thing or napping, taking comfort in your closeness and shared time together.
+1 drabble!
Your pencil slides easily across the page, the sound soothing you during these quieter hours of the night. You purse your lips and squint your eyes at the sketch, brows furrowing. Something feels off.. But what? You click your tongue in disapproval, it's both a curse and a blessing to be your own greatest critic.
You're not oblivious to the feeling of being watched. From the first night you'd come into the maze and well after you'd practically moved in, you were always being watched. You were only slowly getting used to it as days passed, and so it came as to no surprise to you when the scarecrow with stitches for a mouth stalks out of the cornstalks, leaning over you to glance down at your sketchbook.
You offer him an amused glance, and hold it up higher. “See something you like?” There's the weight of his chin on the top of your head, and he huffs despite not needing to breathe, disturbing your hair in the process.
“That,” He raises a gloved hand and points at the unfinished cornstalk drawing you'd been working on. Dirt smears on your page from his dirty glove, but you don't have the heart to tell him off for it. “-is a beautiful cornstalk.” He finishes, his tone appraising.
And you feel all giddy inside for a moment, the compliment giving a quick dopamine rush, before you catch yourself and just simply smile at him. You slightly push his finger away, wiping off some of the dirt on the page. “I don't know.. I feel like it's missing something. Maybe I need to shade it more, somewhere? What do you think?”
He's silent for a couple of moments, like he's considering your words and attempting to puzzle out the right answer. The scarecrow nuzzles the top of your head, muttering "I enjoy that one.” into your hair, before he stalks off again, his hoe scraping the ground behind him.
Ah, well. You suppose you can't fault him for not being an art critic.
There is like,,5 crumbs of Zardy’s Maze content :((
Could I request some headcannons with a gn!Reader x Zardy, but it’s more centered around the trope thing of “two characters realize they’re in love and they know it but don’t know how to admit it” until at last they finally admit their feelings and it’s just fluffy all around?
It’s me I’m the 5 crumbs /j
........
Everyone knew how much Zardy despised humans. To him they’re nothing but trouble--only visiting the maze to goof around and destroy the crops/weeds.
But while he’s stalking a couple of teenagers one night, he sees a third human as well: You.
It doesn’t seem like your friends with them, as you reach them first only to ask them to leave the maze, warning them of the scarecrows that roam around here.
As it turns out, you were the person living in the old house just outside the maze. Usually you stayed indoors, so he forgot you were even there.
At first the teens are barely shaken by your “ghost story”, but when Zardy scraped his tool across the dirt, that spooked them into finally leaving.
You see him before he disappears, approaching him and thanking him personally.
He’s surprised by your bravery...so he spares you that night.
Soon enough you two interact more and get to know each other better. Since you respected the maze, Zardy told the others not to harm you. And thus, there was a truce:
You convinced other humans not to trespass, and he lets you live in peace and harvest food. Seems simple enough.
He didn’t think his relationship with you would be anything more than a mere alliance.
But it turned out to be a lot more than that...and at first he denied ever caring about you.
He was supposed to be a heartless monster who hated humans! And yet..you, a human, hacked your way into his straw heart.
You grew to love him, too, though you didn’t think he would understand what “love” was (considering he’s been in this maze all his life). So you both kept those feelings hidden.
It was painfully obvious to the others, especially Pumpkin Jack.
In fact, he tried to orchestrate a moment for his fellow scarecrow to confess (by having you trip over a Crawler vine so he could catch you).
It failed, but it didn’t stop Zardy from helping you up and brushing the dirt off your clothes.
The close proximity (along with the vines not letting you two go anywhere) finally got you both to admit your true feelings. All under the moonlight.
As cheesy as it was..it worked!
From there on, Zardy’s walls slowly came down and he learned how to love like humans did. He’d come by your house more often, usually with crops or gifts--usually keepsakes left behind or stolen from trespassers.
Around Halloween, you’d both partake in the usual traditions of pumpkin carving, which also includes the ritual of turning the jack o’lanterns into Crawlers.
Instead of patrols, he learned he could just take casual walks with you throughout the maze. Both day and night.
If you remain on the farm and inevitably grow old, everyone will get together to make a scarecrow that you could transfer your soul into.
That way, when the time comes you’ll never have to leave Zardy <3
