It was bound to happen. I ended up making a not-entirely-a-fankid-really between Hunter and Smoker. I named him Foster as in foster kid following the creative naming system in the ladyverse.
Foster is Hunter’s distant relative she’s never met, a second cousin once removed sort of thing. His parents have fallen on financial hardships and need a place for him to stay for like a year while they get their shit together. What made his parents decide on the two less than approachable queer ladies without a single maternal bone in their body? -shrugs- but Hunter likely owes something to this relative and feels like housing their kid for a bit will make things even lol.
In this AU Hunter and Smoker are probably married and living together in a slightly bigger apartment, but I imagine they keep their relationship to themselves (in Smoker’s case) or inner circle (Hunter). Smoker is a bit less uptight having become used to Hunter’s constant presence, but there’s still a bunch of unspoken rules that Foster has to learn upon living with them.
Thankfully he’s more the quiet, observant type so he won’t disrupt Smoker much other than with his presence.
They definitely don’t see him as a son and he definitely doesn’t see them as parental figures, just stranged aunts he’s stuck with while he’s feels resentful of his circumstances, but I like thinking of them getting to a point where they get along lol. Then the zombie apocalypse hits and they’re stuck with each other for realsies.
