While Kim and Trini were at the Krispy Kreme, Zack and Jason went to the abandoned train car where they almost morphed during a heated argument over who was more amazing between the two of them and a lot of laughter. The armour flashed in and out of their body for just a second, but long enough for them to notice and spend the rest of the afternoon trying to make it happen again.
After the bonfire and before he met with Kim, Jason sought after Zack to apologise for the fight they got into. He explained that he had only been frustrated and was received with a hug that made his insides tingle with something he couldn’t quite describe. He was glad Zack had forgiven him, and more than that, the brunet understood him, so that was something they could bond over.
After they defeated Rita, they decided to celebrate together at the ship. Despite wanting to assure their parents of their well-being, the rangers also felt they deserved the celebration.
Zack’s return to school was not just because of Trini’s threats. Actually it was mostly because of Jason. The blond visited him at his home and met his mother. The three of them spent the whole day talking together and Zack’s mom seemed to be better than ever, which only served to further improve Zack’s mood. Eventually the conversation shifted from getting to know Jason into prying into his relationship with Zack. Mama Taylor was as bold as her son and outright asked the former quarterback if he was dating her son. Zack wanted to hide his face somewhere, he was blushing, but so was his leader. Zack scolded his mom in Chinese for asking that kind of thing to his friend, to which she responded that she was just looking out for him, because he needed someone to take care of him after she passed away. Jason sat the dumbstruck, not understanding a word of what was being said. Eventually they broke off their argument and Mama Taylor smiled at Jason, while her soon looked miserable and sighed in defeat. She repeated her question and without verbally responding it, Jason just reached for Zack’s hand and intertwined their fingers. Zack’s eyes widened, but eventually he smiled. They kissed outside to bid each other goodbye and both teens felt it to be magical.
"Take that!" Trini yelled, punching through the last putty.
"Aw, yeah!" Zack yelled, running over to high five her, the team laughing and congratulating each other.
"Your team fighting while morphed has improved," Zordon's voice boomed.
Jason dissolved his mask, grinning at his team. "Thanks."
"But there are others besides the putties who may come for the crystal," Zordon continued.
"Rita mentioned others, too," Billy said with a frown.
"Let's see how you handle something new," Zordon said, and then new creatures began to appear.
They were humanoid shaped, but in addition to arms appeared to have wings, and their faces were distorted with large beaks.
Jason morphed his mask back into place. "Let's do this!" he yelled, the team attacking together.
"These things are tough," Kim grimaced, landing solid hits but where a putty exploded with one solid hit, these were taking several to be brought down.
"We got this!" Jason encouraged, fighting.
"Whoa!" Billy yelled, flipping out of the way of an attack.
Every time someone managed to defeat one, more would appear, until the rangers were outnumbered, but Jason encouraged his team to keep fighting.
Their usual banter was missing as they fought, all of them needing to concentrate.
"Shit!" Zack yelled, taking a hit to the gut that made him stumble, giving just enough of an opening for one of these things to get him by his neck and lift him in the air.
He shouted wordlessly, hands clawing at his throat, feet kicking out.
"Zack!" Jason yelled, trying to get over to him but they'd managed to isolate them and no, why hadn't he noticed that sooner...!
"Hold on!" Kim shouted, her and Billy teaming up to try to get to Zack, Trini flipping to Jason, the four pushing their way to him.
Zack's kicks were slowing down, though, his breathing not as loud over their comms.
"Zack! Stay with me, Zack!" Trini yelled, and listening to Zack's wheezing breath slowing and Trini calling out for him... suddenly Jason wasn't in the pit, he was in his zord and Goldar was pushing them into the crater, they were on fire and being crushed, they were dying, they were losing Zack on the comms...
Jason jerked when the whole team screamed, eyes frantically turning to Zack only to see him dropped on the ground and demorphed, fear flooding him so fast he was dizzy, no longer able to hear Zack's breathing, unable to tell if he was...
"Arggghhh!" Jason roared, summoning his power blade and hacking these enemies to pieces, killing them all for hurting Zack, the team rushing to their fallen friend.
They all dropped to the ground around Zack, demorphing, Trini quick to lay her head on Zack's chest. "His heart's beating," she said in a rush, relief palpable.
"He's breathing," Kim confirmed. "He just passed out."
Jason closed his eyes, heart still racing, feeling shaky now that he knew Zack was okay, reaching out to grip his hand tight.
They all sat together on the floor, pressed close and waiting for Zack to wake up, Jason pissed that Zordon hadn't ended the simulation when Zack was in trouble but knowing that it was on him, too, for not noticing until it was too late to help. Dammit...
Zack's breathing shifted, his eyelids fluttering before he was blinking them open and coughing a bit, disoriented for a moment, staring up at the faces of his anxious friends. "What happened?" he asked, slowly sitting up, Trini plastering herself to his side and letting him lean on her.
"You passed out," Billy answered.
"One of those things got you by the neck," Kim added.
"It's my fault," Jason said, everyone turning to look at him. "I didn't notice them cutting you off from us until too late. I'm sorry."
"No way, man," Zack said, clearing his throat a bit, voice rough. "I shoulda stayed closer."
Jason shook his head. "I'm the leader--"
"We're a team," Zack cut him off.
"But someone has to be on the lookout in battle," Jason argued. "I'm not trying to put myself down, or you guys, I promise, but..." he trailed off, shrugging.
"I think you're both right," Billy said slowly. "Jason should have used more strategy for us, and Zack should have fought closer to the team."
Kim bit her lip, slowly nodding in agreement.
"Clearly you guys rescued me, though," Zack tried to joke, but Trini elbowed him.
"After you passed out," she said, not looking at him. "We could hear your breathing, and then you stopped answering, and then you were just... gone."
"Oh," Zack said softly, hugging her tightly. "Shit, I'm sorry, crazy girl."
"It was like I was back in my zord, and we were losing and you were dying..." Trini said softly.
"Hey, I'm totally fine, all right?" Zack said, looking at all of them, the pain in all their eyes. "I'm fine."
They all pressed close for a group hug, staying like that for long minutes until they could all calm down.
"Training's done for today," Jason said when they all finally pulled back, everyone nodding at him and slowly standing.
They gathered up their stuff and walked to the water entrance, jumping up and through.
"I'll walk you, Trini," Kim said, moving to the other girl.
Jason moved closer to Zack. "I'll go with you," he said quietly, worry and guilt still weighing on him.
They split up to head home, Jason and Zack soon out of range of the rest of their friends.
"I'm fine," Zack repeated softly.
"But you weren't, and it was my fault," Jason said. "I made the wrong call, just charging in against them."
"Hey, it was our first fight against them, cut yourself some slack," Zack said, bumping into him.
Jason stopped walking. "You could have been seriously hurt!"
"But I wasn't! Besides, I don't think Alpha-5 would let Zordon kill us in the pit," Zack said, trying to cheer Jason up.
Jason just scowled.
"Hey, c'mon, it takes more than that to get me down," Zack promised, reaching for his hands and squeezing.
Jason squeezed back. "It just... was like Trini said, we were back in our zords and you were the first one to go, and you'd demorphed so we couldn't hear you at all, you were just gone--"
"I. Am. Fine," Zack promised, kissing him softly to shut him up. "I'm fine."
Jason sighed, leaning into Zack, pulling him into a tight hug.
Zack hugged him back, pulling back after a few minutes. "How'd you guys beat them, anyway?"
Jason grinned sheepishly. "I summoned the power sword..."
"Cheater," Zack grinned, holding Jason's hand and tugging him to get him walking again.
"I just... had to get to you," Jason said, and Zack smiled, kissing his adorable boyfriend.
"Stay the night," Zack said, as they moved towards his trailer.
Jason hesitated, so Zack continued: "You'll sleep better if you stay the night."
Jason couldn't argue with that, so he agreed as long as Zack's mom was okay with it (she was), so he texted his parents to let them know he was crashing at Zack's.
And when he was curled up in Zack's bed with him, holding him close and feeling him breathing nice and steady, the last bit of tension left him and he could relax. They were okay.
Do We Have To Do This Every Morning? (Zason Week - Day 2)
Zack rolled over in bed in the morning to cuddle up with Jason, but Jason wasn't in bed. Sighing, Zack slowly stretched out on their bed and let out a satisfying groan. He knew exactly where Jason was and he was not looking forward to looking for him. Hesitantly, Zack pushed himself up and grabbed the nearest pair of shorts. Slipping them on, he headed straight to the living room where he knew Jason was about to start their morning routine. 'I really don't want to do this.' Zack was about to turn the corner to the living room when he ran straight into Jason, bumping their heads together. Both of them staggered backwards a little, letting out a hiss of pain. "Sorry. Didn't see you there," Zack chuckled. "I was just gunna wake you. Good timing," Jason smiled. He grabbed Zack's hand and pulled him in for a quick kiss. Zack tried to stop him. "Wait, morning breath!" It was too late though. Jason didn't seem too much about it so he went ahead and pressed their lips together. Zack smiled into Jason's lips, leaning into the kiss little by little. Jason pulled away and dragged Zack into the living room quickly. Zack got a good view of Jason's entire body from behind. He was wearing a simple pair of red basketball shorts and a black tank top. His hair was a mess but it was endearing to Zack. Jason's muscular back was outlined well by the tank top while his ass was bulging perfectly from the shorts. Jason's legs had always been impressive, but they had never stopped to amaze Zack everytime he saw them. When they reached the living room, Jason caught Zack staring and smiled brightly. Zack couldn't help but grin. "Okay, I understand that we have to stay in shape and all, but isn't training in the Pit enough already. Do we have to do this every morning?" Zack whined like a kid, smile never leaving his face. In the background, a workout routine was paused on the tv and matts were set down on the floor for both of them. Jason tapped his chin, acting as if he was thinking, before he turned he beamed and said, "Of course we do!" Zack huffed. "You're a monster," he joked. "Maybe. But this monster is gunna add one more routine at the end that he knows you'll love." Zack's eyebrows rose curiously. "I mean, unless you don't want it. I'd be happy to take it off the regimen," Jason playful slid his hands into Zack's shorts. "I thought it'd provide some pretty great... stress relief, but if you don't want it...." Zack's eyes darkened and he tsked. "Of course I want it." Zack stepped back and stretched a little. "Let's get it done, so we can get some... relief." Jason laughed and grabbed the remote sitting on by the tv. He pressed play and they began what the workout that they did every morning. Zack got the perfect view of Jason's body stretched out in very compromising positions which made it a little difficult for him to concentrate. 'Maybe I wouldn't mind doing this every morning.' He smirked to himself as they changed position, giving Zack the perfect view of Jason's ass. 'We'd better do this every morning.'
Hello, everyone! After much thought, we decided to host Zason Week! Yay! Now we would love to see everyone joining on this. Anyone is welcome to participate, writers, artists, video makers, GIF makers, illustrators and fans in general. Just share your contributions to the celebration of this beautiful ship.
What’s going to go down on this week?
Each day will have a different theme and the works should be based off them, but most importantly, let your creativity flow.
What are the themes?
Day 1: Halloween Monday: Because who wouldn’t love to see what these two get up to during Halloween?
Day 2: Domestic Tuesday: Bring on all that fluffy stuff. Living together, lazy mornings, cooking, some mutual pining.
Day 3: Crossovers Wednesday: What would they be like in the world of Harry Potter, or if they were demigods from Percy Jackson? How would they survive the Hunger Games? Throw your favourite universes into the mix.
Day 4: Missing Scenes Thursday: Fill in the blanks that were left by the movie? What happened in the background?
Day 5: AU Friday: Shower us with your favourite AU settings. Coffee shop AU, college AU, the options are limitless.
Day 6: Kinky Saturday: Let’s start the weekend by getting freaky. Show us the kinks that you think these two have. Put your mind into the gutter.
Day 7: Tragic Sunday: A little bit of pain never hurt nobody, and what best way to prepare for Monday than with angst (and perhaps some comfort as well, because let’s be honest, we don’t wanna suffer too much)?
Tag your posts with #ZasonWeek, so we can keep up with what you’re doing and reblog everything.
When will it happen?
Zason Week will take place on the week from July 24th to July 30th. I hope to see everyone there. <3
"I still can't believe you volunteered us for this," Zack complained.
"C'mon, Zack, it'll be fun," Kim said, trying to cheer him up.
"My brothers are excited," Trini admitted.
"Pearl, too," Jason smiled.
"No, my idea was fun. This is gonna be work," Zack pouted.
"...Your idea was to sneak to the farm and carve all the pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns of varying faces and spread out the guts to make it look like they were eating each other," Billy stated.
"See? Fun!" Zack said, grinning at just the idea, man the looks on peoples' faces woulda been priceless.
"You gonna complain the whole time? Cause then it won't be fun," Trini said, glaring at him.
"I just don't get why we gotta work on our day off," Zack grumbled.
"Actually, your plan would have involved considerable more work than this will," Billy pointed out.
Zack groaned.
"He's got you there," Jason laughed, clapping Zack on the shoulder. "C'mon, it's just a few hours, then I'll do whatever you want."
Zack still pouted, but he reluctantly nodded and followed the rest of the team into the gym.
Angel Grove had this tradition of pairing older students with younger ones for Halloween, in an effort to minimize the tricks played by the naughtier side of the student population and to let the older kids have an excuse to dress up and have some fun, too, while giving parents of the younger kids a free pass on having to take them trick-or-treating.
And Jason had signed the whole team up.
Zack was the only one not immediately on board with the idea, and he still wasn't really convinced, but he had to admit that walking through those doors with his friends, all five of them morphed into their armor, was something else.
They were pretty much immediately swarmed by little kids, all of them wanting to touch their "costumes," a lot of the older kids and adults in the room looking at them, too.
"Hey, guys, we're the Power Rangers! Ready to go trick-or-treating?" Jason asked with a grin, not that they could see it behind his mask.
All the kids shouted enthusiastic yes's, some little girls flocking to Kim and telling her she was their favorite color, and Zack found it hilarious when Trini's brothers told her the Yellow Ranger was their favorite, grinning at the hint of emotion in her voice when she thanked them.
"How come you're not a color?" a kid asked him while he was distracted watching Billy kneel down to tie a kid's undone shoe and nearly getting swarmed until Jason had to wade in to save him.
"I am, I'm black," Zack said with a grin, striking a pose with his hands on his hips.
The kids did not look very impressed, attention starting to get pulled to the others and okay, hold up.
"Here, grab on!" Zack said, reaching out for them and easily lifting them, letting them cling to his arms as he started moving them up and down, barely feeling their weight.
"Black..." Jason said in his warning voice but Zack just grinned, letting two more kids hang on and lifting them up a few times before stopping.
"I thought we were gonna get some candy, Red?" he questioned, turning to the team and grinning at the cheer that went up among the kids.
Jason sighed, but he nodded. "Find your partners! We can go with everyone," he said, not wanting to cause any scenes.
Zack took that as permission enough, turning to lead the charge out of the gym, hearing Kim through the comms thanking one of the adults for the compliments on their costumes but no, they wouldn't be signing in for any kind of credit -- they were the Power Rangers.
Man, they never got the credit...
They all tried to make sure to move around the groups as they walked, letting everyone get a chance with each Ranger, helping the littler ones with their buckets and ringing doorbells and complimenting costumes on the older kids to include them, too.
By the end of the night, Zack had a sleeping 6 year old on his back and was carrying at least five different buckets of candy for others.
It took almost another hour to hand off all the kids to their correct parents and dodge the questions of the adults, the five of them finally able to slip away and remove their armor.
"This was a good idea," Billy said, smiling.
"Totally," Kim agreed.
"Everyone loves the Power Rangers," Trini said with a smirk.
"Thanks, guys," Jason grinned at his team.
"Yeah, yeah, you promised fun stuff after this!" Zack said.
"Not me, I'm beat," Kim said.
"Same, should head home anyway," Trini added.
"I should go home, too," Billy agreed. "It's later than I thought I'd be home, my mom will worry."
Zack groaned. "Guyssss... It's Halloween!"
"Sorry, Zack," Kim chuckled.
"Hey, since you mostly behaved, I'll stay," Jason said, tone teasing.
Trini smirked at Zack. "Have fun you two!"
"See you tomorrow!" Billy waved.
Zack rolled his eyes at Trini, but he bumped his fist to hers before she left, hugging Kim and waving at Billy, the group splitting up.
"So, Bossman, the night is young! What should we do?" Zack asked with a grin.
Jason shrugged. "Well, it's Halloween, right? I'd say we deserve our treat."
Zack grinned. "I know just the thing." He led them out of town and to his abandoned train car, digging around before triumphantly pulling out a bag full of candy.
"Where did you get all that?" Jason asked with a laugh.
"Swiped it from the school two days ago," Zack grinned, tossing the bag on top of the car and jumping up, offering his hand to Jason and pulling him up, too.
Jason chuckled, settling on top of the car with Zack. "Of course you did. Well, that's not exactly the treat I had in mind."
"Oh really?" Zack asked, turning to face him.
"Really," Jason said, shifting closer and pulling Zack in for a short, sweet kiss.
"You can do better than that, this is my treat, right?" Zack teased, hand moving to cup Jason's jaw while the other tangled in his hair and pulled forward, kissing him harder.
Jason took that as a challenge, slipping his hand beneath Zack's shirt and pressing it firmly between his shoulder blades to bring his body closer, the other settling on his hip and gripping tight.
They kissed until they couldn't breathe and keep going for a few seconds more anyway, pulling back to pant harshly and share grins. Zack moved to straddle Jason's lap, kissing down his jaw and to his neck, biting little marks when Jason's hands settled on his ass.
"No hickeys," Jason panted.
"Fast healing," Zack responded, but he made sure not to leave any marks where Jason couldn't cover them up, pressing his shirt out of the way to suck a nice bruise into his collarbone.
Jason grabbed his hair and dragged him back up, smashing their mouths together. He was a bit too hasty in pulling Zack closer to him, though, rocking backwards and unable to get his arms out to catch himself in time, fingers caught in the back pockets of Zack's jeans, falling onto his back with a grunt, Zack landing on top of him.
"Smooth," Zack laughed, settling on top of him.
Jason chuckled at himself, wrapping his arms around Zack and kissing him softly.
"Mm," Zack hummed. "You make a surprisingly good pillow."
"My goal in life," Jason teased, enjoying this moment of closeness. "Thanks for coming tonight."
"For you, anything," Zack said with a genuine smile, looking straight into Jason's eyes as he leveraged himself up a bit, resting his weight on his hands rather than on Jason. "But I haven't come yet," he added with a smirk.
Jason laughed, leaning up to playfully tug on Zack's bottom lip with his teeth, satisfied at the groan he got. "Well then, we can't have that, can we?"
