Zato-ONE saying he wants to protect Millia for the umpteenth time and Millia’s zoning out but you can see a bottle of vodka inside a thought bubble.
Warning, MAJOR SPOILERS for episode 7 of Dual Rulers
Me: I will write more about my Robovenom and Uniburi parallels later, it's not like we're going to get any new parallels between the two ships anytime soon, right?
Dual Rulers Episode 7 Summary: Unika called Bridget her "savior"/"onjin (恩人)
Me: !!!!????
"Seeing her wounded savior, Unika’s eyes burn with newfound determination."
For those who are unaware, onjin (恩人) is a Japanese word that can mean many things including benefactor; patron; person to whom one owes a great deal; person to whom one is (deeply) indebted. Another possible translation could be "savior".
The reason I'm freaking out about this? Because Robo-Ky uses the word onjin to describe his relationship to Venom in GUILTY GEAR Xrd REV 2 After Story B.
The English translation doesn't really convey this, but basically Robo-Ky is saying that he's Venom's savior (恩人) so he should act more grateful.
Before Robo-Ky says onjin Venom has an expression that looks stoic and uninterested.
But once he says onjin, Venom immediately reacts and makes an expression of shock, as seen in the previous screenshot where I highlight the word onjin.
After this, Venom responds by repeating the word onjin with a noticeable amount of frustration at the term. This then prompts Venom to go into his rant about how he resents Robo-Ky for saving his life.
Why is Venom so upset? Because the word onjin is one that he associates with Zato-ONE.
In the English dub, during one of Venom's battle intros against Zato-ONE, Zato will say "Sorry. I took you for a subordinate." and Venom responds with "Pardon me. I took you for my savior." As far as I can tell, this is a fairly accurate translation of what Venom is saying in Japanese. Unsurprisingly, he uses the word onjin to describe Zato-ONE. Venom's GG World entry also has him call Zato his savior in English, and the word onjin is used in his Japanese language entry.
I was planning to write more about Venom's relationship with his "saviors", particularly the similarities and differences in how he treats them, some point in the future, but with this new parallel I had to say something before it slipped my mind.
I'm sorry that my first post on new main is Zato
Toxic yaoi on the mind tonight
