I think this is my first post of the new years and I am starting with a resolution: to dive more in depth with Zbrush. I’ve used Zbrush another time before with my zombie practice sculpt and I wanted to build directly into the program instead of working in Maya first. Zbrush to Blender isn’t that hard of a transition and I got the hang of it after my practice before this piece above.
My reference was Morgan Freeman. He has a lot of aging qualities to his skin and unique moles. When I collected his photos, I did notice his moles were different in most photos along with his wrinkles so I had to get a general vibe(?) on how to place them. I have a few more details before retopo and hair sym.
1 of 3 commission pieces :} I mentioned before I was going to accept 3D commissions in the future. This one was done as a show off piece for the sculpted figure option. The character is Karu by simplehowl1 on Twitter. :)
I wanna mention commissions aren't open YET, but hopefully soon!
Sculpted in Zbrush Core and rendered with Maverick Render, Karu belongs to simplehowl1
A wip of a, um, bat-gremlin-thing I’ve been noodling away on whilst trying to get used to Zbrush Core.
Getting better at it, but need to watch some more tutorials.
Also need to work more on my bonewings thing, just been stuck on getting good refs for the joints.
Then there’s the ever-looming issue of learning retopo, which is my biggest 3D hurdle atm...
Let’s go back to work on my dwarf I guess.

Hey, so ya’ll know i do most of my modeling in Zbrush(with some maya thrown in there), yeah?
Well, now Zbrush has a version called Zbrush Core which has more bells and whistles than Sculptris, and is $149. I’m not sure if it comes with Dynamesh, which is what I use to boolean out cores and joints, but it does seem to be a good step up from Sculptris if you’re looking to get into 3d sculpting and printing.
