Diggin' that moss
Upon Trager's office door, there would be a small sign in a gentle calligraphic text that read "Watch your step. -W" Inside his office in the middle of the floor was a small slice of Italian coffee cake adorned with a single strawberry. Alongside was a cup of coffee, black with a hint of vanilla creamer. The display was served on a doily and silver tray with small handles. Despite the dim lighting from the office lights being off when the door opened, the presentation shimmered with hospitality.
“—be there at three, then! On the dot. If yer not there in time, well… shit! I’d hafta throw ya into the engine my damn self!”
With a roar of laughter (more so coming from his end than from those he basically threatened) and a wave of his hand, Rick shooed away the small group of coworkers that had flocked to him upon returning. Being greeted with the familiar smell of old wood as the door swung open to his office, he had to smile. Everything was right where he had… No, that wasn’t true. There was one thing he was sure wasn’t there before his absence. Throwing his coat onto the nearby rack, Rick walked over to pick up the generous display of goodies left for… him, presumably.
“W…” Rick muttered off the little message, letting the word fall off his tongue like honey.
He knew plenty of ‘W’s, but only one came to mind as to who would’ve gone out of their way to do something so nice. How cute. He’d make it up to him somehow.
