Thoroughbred World is now live!

This week, ZeeGee Games, in conjunction with The Jockey Club, is proud to announce the release of THOROUGHBRED WORLD. This Facebook game enables players to raise, train, race and breed thoroughbred racehorses and build out their own thoroughbred farm. Starting with a single foal, players can build a beautiful working thoroughbred farm with dozens of horses through buying and breeding and building your own racetracks. We Are Downtown!

Some exciting changes are happening at ZeeGee Games! Just this past week we moved into our spacious new offices located in downtown Orlando. Our new space gives us plenty of room for the creative juices to flow, and some much needed room to grow. Check back soon as we will be posting some photos after all the boxes are unpacked!

Two of ZeeGee’s finest will be presenting talks at this year’s EAST COAST GAME CONFERENCE on April 25th and 26th in North Carolina. Dustin Clingman (CEO) and Patricia Pizer (Creative Director) will be offering up their thoughts, experiences, ideas, and expertise to share at the conference.  Dustin will be presenting a talk entitled THE ZOMBIE STARTUP SURVIVAL GUIDE. This session will offer insights into how to succeed with your start up and avoid becoming a victim of the Zombie Startup Plague by giving you advice on successful business planning and team building. Patricia will be a speaker on a panel of industry professionals for the session entitled FROM THE MOUTHS OF GRADS. Patricia and other seasoned industry professionals will discuss their career paths from their education to their first jobs to their career success and life in the game industry. Project Horseshoe 2011

As Platinum Sponsors this year, Dustin & I attended the 6th annual PROJECT HORSESHOE.  Arriving Thursday afternoon, we gathered to get introduced, play some prototypes and greet old friends.  I played a couple of new games, including Dixit, an excellent game which we'll be getting to play at the office sometime soon. Our speakers, Edward Castranova and Ken Rolston, provided some great inspiration for attendees to get psyched for forming workgroups.  This year, we had 5 workgroups on diverse topics, from the role of psychology in making games to redefining genres.  Hard work all day Friday and Saturday was punctuated by playing games, long, deep conversations and design philosophy. Saturday evening's presentations by workgroups demonstrated lots of hard work and had participants sprinting around to locate geocaches.  After the presentations we stayed up late to keep the magic going as long as possible, aided by the extra hour granted to us by the time change.  Sunday found us reluctantly heading home to work on reports for workgroups and to cherish another year at Project Horseshoe. - Patricia Pizer

[Community] ZeeGee Races for the Cure

This past weekend members of the ZeeGee team participated in a 5K run/walk to benefit Susan G. Komen of Central Florida. We had a great turnout and lots of support in our fundraising efforts.  We were able to make a final donation of $1,610 to the foundation that will go towards breast cancer research and education.  We wanted to give a special shout out to Brian Wheat, a programmer here at ZeeGee Games, who finished in the top 80 out of 384 and 14th in the 25-29 age group!  Thanks to everybody who helped us in supporting this great cause.

"Working" at ZeeGee

We thought it would be a fun idea to poll the team here at ZeeGee about various topics and then share a few of their thoughts with you guys.  This week we asked what everyone enjoys most about working here at ZeeGee and we got some really great answers.   “The people. I've worked a lot of places and have found that unless you're working with great folks, you can't make great games. We're making great games.”             - Patricia   “The best thing is instead of having a job I hate, I have a job that I enjoy coming in to. More specifically, I guess the relaxed atmosphere is my favorite thing about working at ZeeGee. Other places I have worked, I feel as though the management doesn't trust their workers, and that has made me anxious. Here, I feel like I am just trusted to get my work done ... and the trust makes me all the more eager to do my best work.”             - Mike   In the coming weeks we'll post a few more answers to other questions including their thoughts on different development platforms, out production methodology, and favorite games.

[Community] Race For The Cure

ZeeGee Games is excited to announce that we will be participating in this year's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure of Central Florida.  We have created a race team and hope to have at least 25 people join us in walking, running, or sleeping in for the cure on Oct. 16th.  It is a great cause and all the proceeds from the race as well as the fundraising efforts of those involved will go to fund breast cancer research, raise awareness about breast cancer, and educate on the importance of early detection.  We at ZeeGee Games see this as a great opportunity to join our community and show our support for an important cause and for all those that have been affected by this disease.  To join us in the fight against breast cancer you can join our team by clicking HERE and selecting "ZeeGee Games" from the list or by entering "Team ZeeGee Games" into the Team Name field.  If you are not an early riser or won't be in the Orlando area on race day you can always join the team and show support by choosing to Sleep In For The Cure.  We hope to see you all there! [News] New Social Media Project

There is a new social media project in the works! ZeeGee Games and Niche Marketing are working together as global business partners to develop and launch an unannounced Facebook Game. We have just finished pre-production and are now in the full swing of things. Keep your eyes and ears open for more updates coming soon!
