Zietz Museum of Contemporary African Art (MOCAA)
Imagine visiting one of the coolest museums in Africa and realise the building itself is a work of art.
Fun facts about Zeitz MOCAA
• It’s the largest museum in the world dedicated to contemporary African art
• The museum was built inside a 100-year-old grain silo at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town
• Architect Thomas Heatherwick transformed the old silo tubes into that iconic futuristic atrium
• Some of the concrete tubes were literally carved out like giant honeycombs
• It has 9 floors and over 100 galleries to explore
• The museum showcases artists from across Africa and the African diaspora
• The rooftop has some of the best views of Cape Town and Table Mountain
• Even if you’re not an art person… the architecture alone is worth the visit
10/10 experience. Would definitely get lost in there again.
