In Age of Imprisonment, it's revealed that Ganondorf isn’t necessarily controlling the Puppet Zeldas directly, nor is he taking the form of Zelda himself. Rather, he creates the puppets from monster corpses and imbues them with his will.

In a subtle but horrible creepypasta twist, the Puppet Zeldas seem to be fragile, and one of them expresses fear in the moment before it’s destroyed. Is it possible that, even in a limited capacity, the Puppet Zeldas are autonomous beings?

The kingdom of Lorule is a skeleton of its former self, and no one knows this better than its princess. In desperation, Hilda accepts the aid of a malignant stranger and resigns herself to the screams that rise from the depths of the castle. Ravio sees where this path will lead, but he cannot bring himself to speak against her. As much as he fears the princess, Ravio fears losing her even more.

After years spent investigating the mysterious shrines of East Necula, Dr. Calip has joined the Zonai Survey Team’s efforts to study the Ring Ruins of Kakariko Village. The ancient structures are fascinating, but what has captured Calip’s attention is the chasm in the forest on the hill. While Calip has been gazing into the abyss, however, the leader of the Zonai Survey Team has been gazing at him.

I contributed a creepy little story about gothic castles and undead princesses to @bloodmoonzine, a fanzine haunted by art and writing that dig deep into the horror of the Legend of Zelda games.
