1 @ Oaks Mall. Down/Stay and Look at me with distractions.

.25 @ Gamestop. being nice while I wait in line

Breakdown:

.75 hr @ Walmart. when we were there last, she got spooked by the frozen food section. We hung out there until she was more comfortable.

.25 hr @ travel. in and out of the car on command.

Breakdown:

1 hr @ class. Sitting quietly next to me in class.

.5 hr @ public transit. Under when sitting on bus bench, even when bus is moving.

.75 hr @ SFC proper. walking around campus. Loose leash walking. Finding chairs. Hitting Handicap button by doors.

Trace @ SFC Domino's. waiting patiently in line.

.5 hr @ Possum Creek Park. in Soccer field by dog park. Sit, Down, Stay, Come when called. All with distractions.

1 hr @ Travel. Sitting Quietly in the car. Unload and Load on command.

1 hr @ Walmart. Down/Stay with distractions. Heeling. Walk on leash. quietly. Turning when walking.

.4 hr @ Gamestop. Wait quietly (Stand/Stay) in line while I do business.

Just got back from our first in-public adventure… Can’t really call it public access training because we didn’t go anywhere they don’t allow dogs, but we went out for about an hour.

The goal: What are stairs?

The apartment I’m in has no stairs and all the stairs to the second floor apartments are behind front doors. Her breeder lived in a one story house, so Zelda has never been on a staircase. The college down the street is full of a bunch of outdoor stairs and no one is really on campus during the summer this time of day.

I ended up walking halfway up the biggest flight on campus with Zelda in my arms and sitting on one of the middle steps. I set Zelda down beside me and had her able to wander up to the full length of her leash.

Just out of her reach both above and below I put some of her HV treats and I let her figure it out.

It took a bit but she’s managing stairs like a pro now… Even better, she is heeling about 50% of the time as well. I’d say today is a success.
