Very nice Zen-ish 1983 house in Galena, IL comes furnished. 5bds, 3ba, 1,920sqft, $479k + $113mo. HOA.

There's wood that makes it look like a Zen sanctuary, especially the bamboo shade in the entrance. (Look at the those glass doors- they would have to go. They provide no security at all.)

Isn't the design of the molding on the walls and ceilings unusual?

Love the corner cabinet. Sliders to the deck make it look like a treehouse.

You get this table and stools, but I think that I would get a regular dining table.

The kitchen is small, but very nice. The cabinets have a Craftsman look. Love the green glass on top.

Actually, I like a compact kitchen like this. It's a very efficient layout.

What a pretty bedroom furniture. Love the lamp, too.

So that would be a main floor primary bedroom.

Long terrace almost runs the width of the house. There's also a fenced patio on the side of the home and a covered patio under the terrace.

Beautiful yard and gardens.

Walking around here is so cool. With these sorts of buildings it was really hard to tell what, exactly, they were. This happened a few times in Tokyo too, there were some temple/shrine looking buildings that, instead of being open to pedestrians and seemingly having 24/7 outdoors usage, were locked behind a gate with a parking lot like American temples and churches. I’m not sure if the discrepancy means buildings like the one pictured are actually private residences and not temples or what.

The Zen House moved closer to us and it's so damn good! Now we can get take-out once in a while.

This 1960 Mid-Century Modern home in Springfield, Missouri is not your typical MCM house. It’s soooo Zen. 3bd. 7ba. $1.299M. Look at this unusual home:

Have you ever seen wood, or an entrance like this, in an MCM home?

I wonder if it was built this way, or if they remodeled it. The stone fireplace does look typically MCM.

The dining room is spacious and is part of the living room’s open concept.

This kitchen is huge. Has skylights, lots of cabinetry, and an island with a cooktop and typically MCM balusters. 

Off the kitchen is a powder room.

There’s a lovely screened in terrace. 

This is a very nice room, maybe it’s a den or library, but the floor is worn. It has a bathroom, too. 

This would be the main bd. and it’s very large.

But, if you think that’s big, look at the size of the en-suite bath.

There’s a shower here. Don’t forget this home has 7 baths.

Look at this mid-century 1979 Zen Retreat in Malibu, California. It has 3bd. 2.5ba. & is listed for $4M + $33mo. HOA fees.

Isn’t this nice right from the start? There’s a nice, wide spiral staircase in the middle of the open concept living space.

And, this is where it gets cool- look at the boulders inside the house. How amazing is that?

The half bath has a clever privacy boulder outside the large picture window.

The dining room opens to the deck and looks out at the ocean.

Beautiful, sleek, original MCM style kitchen. 

Plus more interesting boulders inside and out.
