here’s a character i’ve been working on for months. i keep trying to come back to her but i get stuck. i feel like at least with this piece i was able to start understanding anatomy a little better and how all the body parts interact with each other, and how the shapes work. but im still struggling with her face. (and hair and costume design, but that’s a whole different game) i just can’t seem to figure out how to draw facial features in a way that makes sense with the shape of the face, no matter how much i THINK i understand it.

this is something i started last week and messed around with coloring on today. tried to practice facial features from a profile view but so much still feels off, but i think some of it will just take practice. proportions are difficult though.

it really does just feel like it’s all in the eyes! and head shape. im having a really hard time with just head and face shapes these days.

and again i feel okay about most of this but her face is really bothering me! it’s those damn proportions!

with this ryuki i wanted his hands on his head but i was too lazy to take a reference pic so if i do that im sure i can make it work somehow. but im just not sure if his face is okay still.
